About the Role

We are looking for a Security Engineer to support security operations for a large-scale data centre environment in Johor Bahru. The role will be responsible for ensuring the security systems, access control, surveillance, incident response, and site security processes are properly monitored, maintained, and supported.

This position is suitable for candidates with experience in data centre security, physical security systems, CCTV, access control, security operations, incident handling, and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day security operations within the data centre facility.
• Monitor and maintain security systems such as CCTV, access control, alarm systems, badge access, visitor management systems, and security monitoring platforms.
• Ensure all site access activities follow approved security procedures and client requirements.
• Support incident response, investigation, reporting, and escalation for security-related events.
• Coordinate with security vendors, facility teams, data centre operations teams, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct regular checks on security devices and ensure faults are reported and followed up promptly.
• Assist with access control reviews, visitor escort procedures, contractor access, and security compliance checks.
• Maintain accurate security logs, incident records, access records, and daily activity reports.
• Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews related to physical security.
• Assist in enforcing data centre security policies, including restricted area access and asset protection.
• Work closely with the RSOC / security monitoring team for escalation and incident updates.
• Support shift, standby, weekend, or after-hours activities when required.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in IT, Security Management, Engineering, Electronics, Network, or related field.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in security operations, physical security systems, data centre security, facility security, or related technical support role.
• Experience with CCTV, access control systems, alarm systems, badge systems, visitor management systems, or security monitoring tools.
• Good understanding of security operations procedures, incident escalation, and access control processes.
• Able to work in a high-security, fast-paced, and process-driven environment.
• Good documentation skills for incident reports, daily logs, and audit records.
• Able to coordinate with vendors, contractors, internal teams, and client representatives.
• Willing to work onsite in Johor Bahru.
• Comfortable supporting shift arrangements, weekend, standby, or after-hours work when required.
• Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Malaysian citizen / PR preferred due to work location and project requirements.

Preferred Skills

• Prior experience in data centre, critical facilities, banking, telecom, manufacturing, or high-security environments.
• Knowledge of physical security standards, security risk controls, and compliance processes.
• Basic IT/networking knowledge will be an added advantage.
• Experience supporting large enterprise or hyperscale data centre environments will be highly preferred.
• Familiarity with security incident handling and root cause follow-up.

The ideal candidate should be hands-on, disciplined, and comfortable working in a structured data centre environment. The person must be able to follow strict security procedures, respond quickly to incidents, and maintain accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
