Position Summary

The Assembly Project Leader is the overall Malaysia-side person-in-charge for the semiconductor cleaning equipment assembly project

This position is responsible for leading and managing the entire assembly project operation, including production planning, assembly execution, procurement coordination, shipment control, cost management, and project profitability improvement.

As the primary operational window for Japanese customers and Japan HQ, the Assembly Leader is expected to coordinate production schedules, delivery commitments, project risks, and improvement activities to ensure achievement of QDC targets .

The role also requires strong leadership in driving operational efficiency, organizational development, and continuous improvement across the assembly project organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Overall Project Management

Lead and manage the entire semiconductor equipment assembly project operation in Malaysia.

Oversee Assembly, Production Control, and Procurement functions for the assembly project.

Monitor and control overall project progress including production, material readiness, assembly status, and shipment schedules.

Ensure achievement of project QDC targets.

2. Production Planning & Progress Management

Develop and review production plans for semiconductor manufacturing equipment assembly projects.

Coordinate with the Production Control Manager to optimize production schedules, manpower allocation, and production capacity utilization.

Review daily production progress and direct recovery actions for schedule delays or operational issues.

Identify production bottlenecks and drive corrective and preventive actions.

3. Customer Coordination & Delivery Management

Act as the primary coordination window with Japanese customers and Japan HQ.

Handle delivery schedule coordination, shipment management, and customer requests based on project requirements.

Lead responses for urgent delivery requests, priority changes, and engineering changes.

Report production risks, schedule impacts, and recovery actions to Japanese customers and Japan HQ.

4. Production Issue Management & Continuous Improvement

Identify operational issues, production risks, and process bottlenecks across the assembly project.

Lead cross-functional improvement activities with Assembly, Engineering, QA/QC, Production Control, and Procurement teams.

Promote defect reduction, process standardization, and operational excellence.

Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

5. Productivity Improvement

Develop and implement measures to improve production efficiency and operational productivity.

Lead initiatives for labor efficiency improvement, workflow optimization, and lead time reduction.

Promote standardization of assembly processes and operational best practices.

Monitor production KPIs and implement corrective improvement actions.

6. Cost Control & Profitability Improvement

Manage overall project cost performance for assembly operations.

Lead cost reduction activities including labor efficiency improvement, material loss reduction, and rework reduction.

Develop and implement measures to improve project profitability.

Support budget management and profitability analysis activities.

7. Organizational Management

Lead and supervise the Assembly Manager, Production Control Manager, and Procurement Manager.

Develop organizational capability and strengthen the assembly project structure.

Promote effective cross-functional communication and teamwork.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and operational standards.

MUST TO HAVE:

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or related field.

Experience

Minimum 10 years of experience in equipment assembly, production management, production control or manufacturing operations in machinery equipment field.

Experience managing assembly projects or manufacturing organizations.

Technical Skill

Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and delivery control.

Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and machining drawings.

Project management and organizational leadership capability.

Cost control and profitability improvement experience.

Problem-solving and process improvement capability.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
