Hiring: Japanese-Speaking Accounting Professional (Senior Accountant Level)
OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Japanese-speaking Accounting Professional (Senior Accountant level) to join a Singapore-based team, open to candidates based in Malaysia, on an initial 12-month contract with strong potential for extension and/or conversion to a permanent role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead APAC consolidated reporting across multiple entities
- Manage month-end close, statutory reporting, and audit support
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations, including payment coordination and issue resolution
- Support Japan-related accounting activities, ensuring compliance with Japanese GAAP
- Translate communications from Japanese authorities and stakeholders into clear, actionable steps
- Coordinate closely with Tax, Treasury, Legal, and BPO partners to resolve issues and drive execution
- Contribute to a 3–6 month project focused on process improvements and operational efficiency
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in a regional or global setup
- Strong knowledge of Japanese GAAP and APAC reporting
- Business-level Japanese proficiency (spoken and written)
- Proven experience supporting Japan operations, including coordination with external partners and statutory processes
- A hands-on, detail-oriented professional who can manage end-to-end processes independently
- Comfortable navigating a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and driving outcomes
