Purpose of the Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a newly established Kuala Lumpurbased finance team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to work closely with regional finance leadership and play a key role in delivering financial and management accounting across multiple markets. Key Responsibilities
Financial Control
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support quarterly reviews.
- Strengthen financial control frameworks to enhance cost and income management.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Critical Deadlines
- Complete month-end close and Trial Balance by working day 4.
- Prepare internal management reports and supplementary reporting (e.g., daily sales, debtor updates).
- Support external reporting, statutory filings, and audits.
Forecasting & Analysis
- Deliver performance commentary and financial analysis for stakeholders.
- Produce accurate mid-month and day-1 flash forecasts.
- Support budget and reforecast cycles with business leaders and FP&A teams.
Business Partnership
- Provide ad-hoc financial insights and analysis to finance leadership.
- Support regional business development activities and analytical requests.
- Build strong working relationships across the business, offering both challenge and support.
Leadership
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Take ownership of finance processes and drive optimisation and automation.
- Ensure timely, accurate delivery of assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Qualified or near-qualified accountant with strong financial and management accounting experience.
- Exposure to multi-jurisdiction environments (Australia, Singapore, India, China, Japan advantageous).
- Experience in the travel industry is beneficial.
Technical Skills
- Strong IFRS knowledge and experience in complex finance environments.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with BI tools and large data sets.
- Proven ability to drive process improvement and efficiency.
Personal Attributes
- Excellent English communication skills; additional Asian languages are beneficial.
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset in dynamic environments.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to identify risks and opportunities.
