Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Type: Permanent, full-time

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Accounts Receivable Team Leader - Allocations to lead our cash allocation and cash application operations within Finance Business Services. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence across allocations, improving cash application accuracy, reducing unapplied cash, and supporting strong working capital and DSO performance.

You will lead a team of Accounts Receivable professionals, ensuring the accurate and timely allocation of customer payments while maintaining strong financial controls, audit readiness, and service delivery standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams including Credit & Collections, Billing, Financial Control, Treasury, and Customer Service, you will play a key role in improving processes, supporting automation initiatives, and delivering an excellent client experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about continuous improvement and operational performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of cash allocation, cash application, reconciliations, direct debits, credit note processing, and unapplied cash management activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of Accounts Receivable Specialists and Analysts, including workload planning, performance management, training, and succession planning.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, service levels, and team performance, proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across allocation processes, automation, reporting, and controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and working capital outcomes.
  • Act as the key escalation point for complex allocation queries, reconciliation differences, aged unapplied cash, and customer account adjustment issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Credit & Collections, Billing, Financial Control, Treasury, Customer Service, and regional finance teams to resolve process blockers and improve end-to-end O2C performance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring reconciliations, documentation, audit evidence, and financial controls are completed accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a strong culture of compliance, accountability, teamwork, and customer service while supporting business continuity and operational priorities during peak periods and organisational change.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Have proven experience in Accounts Receivable, cash application, allocations, or related finance operations within a shared services or multinational environment, including previous team leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to motivate teams and build collaborative relationships across functions and regions.
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the confidence to manage complex allocation issues, reconciliations, and process improvements.
  • Be highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have strong systems knowledge, including experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or SAP S/4HANA, along with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Show a proactive and adaptable approach, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to support change, automation, and transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, and a strong customer service focus when dealing with both internal and external stakeholders.
