Job Description

Summary of Role

As a Senior Analyst within the Partial Delegation Team, you will act as a key finance partner, working across multiple regions and supporting Business Controllers (Full Delegation).

You will be responsible for a portfolio of shipping lines, managing complex data flows and ensuring that financial and operational data is accurate, structured, and meaningful. The role requires a deep analytical mindset & clear business understanding, as you will be handling large volumes of data, identifying trends, anomalies, and variances, and ensuring that financial insights are well-documented and reported to stakeholders.

Unlike a pure data entry role, this position demands financial acumen and critical thinking, as your analysis & checking will directly impact financial reporting, forecasting, and business decisions. You will be working autonomously, with deadlines set by the Head Office, and ensuring that data integrity is maintained throughout all financial processes.

Responsibilities:

Financial & Operational Data Analysis

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret operational and financial data from multiple internal sources (e.g., Load Engine, LARA, SharePoint, internal web applications).
  • Input, update, and maintain key operational data (e.g., vessel fuel consumption, cost validations, operational KPIs) in financial systems:
  • Ensure 100% accuracy in all data inputs and maintain timely updates.
  • Monitor and update service line schedules in working file templates based on the reporting period.
  • Analyze voyage end dates and assign the correct reporting period in the system
  • Perform bunker updates in the system to ensure bunker costs are accurately captured.
  • Perform bayplan integration in the system and update completed ports of a voyage.
  • Identify Breakbulk BLs and apply the necessary treatment for correct calculation.
  • Perform Borne Checking and update the system to capture correct volume data
  • Ensure all financial and operational data flows are properly recorded and structured.
  • Investigate & analyze Bill of Ladings with an error, you will have to dig, get the full business understanding to correct the system.

Data Integrity & Quality Control

  • Perform systematic cross-checks to verify the accuracy of financial and operational data.
  • Identify and correct inconsistencies, ensuring that all inputs align with real operational activities.
  • Maintain a high level of precision, as incorrect data can have major financial implications.
  • Be proactive in detecting anomalies and escalate issues when necessary.

Autonomy & Workload Organization

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of shipping lines, working with defined processes and deadlines.
  • Operate independently, ensuring that tasks are delivered on time and with high accuracy.
  • Understand critical work periods:
  • End of month & start of the month Heavy workload linked to monthly closing.
  • Mid-month Lighter workload but still requiring constant monitoring of data flows.

IT Tools & Reporting

  • Work extensively with Excel, using multiple data sources for cross-verification.
  • Utilize key internal tools such as Load Engine, LARA, SharePoint, and internal web applications.
  • Support data preparation for Business Controllers and Finance teams.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in finance operations, controlling, or data analysis.
  • Ability to verify, validate, and cross-check large datasets.
  • Ability to detect inconsistencies and step back to analyze the quality of data.
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong Excel skills. Comfort with working across multiple datasets and sources.
  • Capacity to take initiative and correct errors before they escalate.
  • Ability to work under pressure, particularly during Closing periods.
  • Experience in shipping, logistics, or multinational environments is a plus.
  • This is a 12-month contract role.
