JOB SUMMARY
Assist to implement the integration Sustainability and ESG factors into investment decisions to protect the fund's long-term financial returns by identifying climate-related risks, managing portfolio sustainability, and ensuring transparency for beneficiaries.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, update, and maintain frameworks such as Sustainable Investment Policies, Sector Playbooks, and Controversy Screenings by conducting independent sustainability reviews on counterparties and investment transactions while applying a principled-pragmatic approach.
- Execute or oversee primary sustainability research to deliver deep-dive analyses, review existing tools/screenings, broaden internal sector/thematic knowledge, and actively monitor domestic, regional, and global sustainability shifts.
- Assist in establishing frameworks to transition the fund's investments toward the Net Zero (Scope 3 Financed Emissions) 2050 target, and support resiliency policies in thematic areas like nature, biodiversity, and social impact.
- Assist to drive and manage the implementation of decarbonisation action plans and other resiliency initiatives for the assigned sectors and/or asset class.
- Assist with the engagements of investee companies, external fund managers, general partners and others by conducting the relevant research and producing the relevant discussion points, including engagement decks.
- Assist in maintaining strong relationships with key counterparts to ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration.
- Support the team's overall and individual developmental plans to foster intellectual curiosity and manage balance between ecological goals and operational targets.
- Assist to formulate, justify, and manage the annual departmental budget, and ensuring alignment with overarching enterprise financial targets and strategic priorities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Pass Malay Language, including the oral test, at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Investments, Sustainability, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government from any local or overseas higher learning institution.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience in conducting sustainability assessment of transactions in some geographies and sectors.
- Proven track record in conducting transaction-level sustainability assessments across selected geographies and sectors and assisting in the development/maintenance of policies aligned with international sustainability standards.
- Good sustainability knowledge, with strong analytical skills to conduct and review independent assessments (e.g., Sustainability Reviews, Controversy Screenings, thematic screenings).
- Strong/good intellectual curiosity to deep dive into specific themes and sectors.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to set clear expectations.
- Skilled in writing and presentations.
