Job Description

Job Responsibility

Compliance Plan Development

  • Support the Unit Head to ensure alignment of compliance objectives with the CGS MY Entities business and strategic objectives
  • Assist in developing Compliance Work Plan and Program and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Assist any other initiatives to promote compliance culture assigned by the Head of Compliance from time to time.
  • Assist in the implementation of compliance-related initiatives to strengthen CGS MY entities compliance framework.

Compliance Advisory

  • Ensure timely dissemination of new/updated regulatory requirements across CGS MY Entities/relevant stakeholders and advise the changes that impact business units
  • Perform gap analysis on newly issued or updated regulatory guidelines as and when required.
  • Provide advisory, interpret laws, regulations and guidelines and value-added solutions to business units and support units on ongoing basis
  • Review policies, procedures and product papers and facilitate compliance with the relevant laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Assist the stakeholders in developing and implementing a compliance programme to comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and address queries and information requested by the relevant regulator(s).

Compliance Risk Management and Review & Monitoring

  • Assist the Unit Head to ensure effective implementation of the compliance related policies and procedures within CGS MY Entities.
  • Assist the Unit Head to establish effective compliance program/review plan to identify, document and assess the compliance risks and corresponding controls associated with the business activities of CGS My Entities
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments, including business units and branches, to identify and assess potential compliance risk. Evaluate adequacy of internal controls. Highlighting and/or tracking of corrective action plans against identified gaps
  • Assist the Unit Head to ensure implementation and completion of the tasks in accordance with Compliance annual compliance work plan.
  • Assist in managing audit and inspection, where applicable.

Reporting

  • Preparation of the report and paper to Board of Directors, Committees and respective stakeholders within stipulated timeline
  • Management of escalation process on compliance related matters – e.g., issues raised by regulators or business units & non-compliance issues
  • Maintenance documentation of compliance activities and records, policies and procedures and regulatory queries/investigations

Training and Awareness

  • Assist in developing compliance training and awareness materials and ensure alignment with current regulatory requirements.
  • Assist to foster a culture of ethical conduct across CGS MY Entities

Governance of Compliance policies and procedures

  • Assist to ensure effective implementation of the compliance related policies and procedures within CGS MY Entities.

Skills

  • Good command in spoken and written English.
  • Good knowledge of capital market regulations and any other related laws and regulations in relation to financial industry matters.
  • Good understanding of the business and functions.
  • Knowledge of drafting governance related policies/procedures.
  • Possess presentations skills.

Years of Relevant Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of experience of relevant financial industry/compliance in established futures broker / securities firm / fund management company / financial institutions.
  • Registered Compliance Officer with Securities Commissions/Bursa is an added advantage.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or Professional Qualification in the relevant discipline (Accounting/ Finance/ Business/ Economics/ Financial Engineering/ Law.
  • SC Licensing Examination is an added advantage.
