Job Summary
The candidate will support the full lifecycle of venture capital fund investments, from sourcing and evaluating fund opportunities tomonitoringpost-investment performance. Key responsibilities include assessing fund managers, preparing investment proposals, managing capital calls and exits, and conducting market and portfolio analysis. The role also involves supporting emerging fund managers,maintainingstrong stakeholder relationships, ensuring documentation compliance, and contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance the venture capital ecosystem.
Job Description
Investments into Venture Capital Fund
- Assistinidentifying,reviewingand creating a new pipeline offund investmentopportunities that align with our investmentobjectives.
- Assistin conducting the assessment on potentialfund managers, including but not limited to their investment philosophy,track recordteamexpertiseinvestment process, risk management processes, and fee structure.
- Assistto prepare fundinvestmentproposals to be presented to the investment committee and board of directors.
- Collaborate with the teamonidentifyingkey terms, including but not limited to economic term and investorright& protections,in thefund documentsfor the negotiation with the fund manager.
PostInvestment Deal ownership
- Assistto track andmonitorfund managerto ensure adherence withregulations& industry standards, governance& controlproceduresand performance measurement & reporting.
- Stay up to datemarket trends, tracking and reporting of performance of each of the fund's investments and measureagainstappropriatemilestonesand benchmarks.
- Manage the capital call process and ensure that the fund meets the milestones andcomply withthe investment agreements.
- Monitor all activities relatingto exit/divestment approval & execution (i.e.strategy, duediligence, feasibility studies & negotiationswith counterparties on keyterms, structuring,financing, approvals,etc.) toenhance value, optimizer exit options.
- Workclosely with the Fund Monitoring team in preparation of internal reporting documentation and tracking performance in investee in funds.
- Identifypotential risks andopportunities within the portfolio and work with portfolio companies to mitigate risk s and capitalize onopportunities.
- Prepare internal reportingdocumentation and trackperformance of investeein funds.
- Archive the investment documents and informationin the portfolio management system as required bythe fund Monitoring team.
Investment Research & Analysis
- Conductin depth qualitative and quantitative analysis on underlying investments.
- Collaborate with the other investment team toidentifyand evaluate economic market trends and financialrisks and opportunities of investments.
FundManager Support and value creation
- Assistto provide fundraising support to the emergingfund managers byidentifyingand introducing them to potential limited partners.
- Assistto provide operationalsupport to the emerging fund managers with guidance in best practices in firm building, investment operations and strategic hiring.
Stakeholder Management
- Build relationshipwith partners and venture ecosystems in the region,including early- stagestart-ups, venture, corporate, strategicinvestorsand limited partners.
- Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, relevant ministries/governmentagenciesand other strategic networks.
Document Management
- Maintain records and relevant documents to ensure investment documentation are complete and up to date for easeof retrieval and future reference.
- Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned by your line manager and/orChief ofInvestment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting & Finance, Economics, Technology/ Science or Engineering is preferred.
- Master's Degree or Professional Qualifications such assCFA, ICAEW, CIMA & Acca will be an addedadvantage.
- A minimum of3-5yearsworking experience preferably in VC/PE firm,start-upfirm, investmentbankand management consulting firm.
