Job Description

Purpose Statement: The automation team identifies, develops, deploys, and maintains automation solutions across the Plexus value stream to improve quality, efficiency, and velocity in Plexus manufacturing operations, encompassing design, development, analysis, production, and commercialization.

Key Job Accountabilities:

Able to engage with global stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions to advance Plexus Manufacturing's capability and Operational Excellence.

Create formal definitions of requirements and, in concert with stakeholders, prioritize the requirements list to ensure the most efficient, effective delivery of enhanced capabilities.

Architect and develop software and system concepts that satisfy the innovative technology requirements. Lead programming and development of software capabilities.

Create and drive a project plan to guide production and delivery.

Ensure capabilities are supportable and sustainable for their designed lifecycle.

Lead development of required documentation, including concepts of implementation and operation for developed technologies.

Define required activities for implementation and use, including training. Define and execute required software testing.

Drive capability implementation in accordance with established documentation.

Maintain and deliver controlled software releases to customers using appropriate configuration management tools.

Develop training materials and documentation; provide initial train-the-trainer training to ensure effective employment of capabilities. Provide deployment support and training for the regional SME's to ensure consistent technology deployment.

Maintain and propagate best practices and standard work for the capabilities. Provide ongoing technical support and capability upgrades over the life cycle of the platform.

Mentor and help develop engineers and members of the extended team. Contribute to their understanding of software engineering, with focus on its relevance to the individual's core areas of responsibility.

Help build an overall awareness of sound engineering principles, considerations and applications. Assist with professional development of the team to grow talent and develop successors/ new leaders for Plexus.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

Candidate must possess Bachelor Degree in Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience of 5 years is required for this position.

Professional experience must include software design and programming in RSLogix, Codesys, Fanuc, Universal Robots, Ladder Logic, and robotics in general.

Professional experience developing Graphical User Interfaces and scripting for a Windows environment.

Strong working knowledge of software design and programming using C, C++, C#, Python, RSLogix, Codesys, Robot programming.

Knowledge of software release management.

Knowledge of software tools such as C, C++, C#, Python, or equivalent.

Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, including the ability to identify and assess risks related to projects, develop mitigation measures and make effective decisions in complex

situations that balance competing interests. Advanced critical thinking skills and analysis ability.

Demonstrated ability to influence others, including relationship-building, conflict resolution and leadership competencies as defined by the company. Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and able to lead without formal authority.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment; able to follow through on assignments with little to no supervision.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical ideas and concepts to a non-technical audience. Must be fluent in English.
