Position Title:
Senior Backend Developer
Work Arrangement: Remote - Malaysia
Schedule: Mondays - Fridays/ 40hrs per week
About The Role
We are building a next-generation payment orchestration platform that will
revolutionise how merchants integrate and optimise multiple payment providers
globally. We're looking for experienced Senior Backend Developers to build the core of our innovative fintech solution. This is a hands-on role where you'll be writing production code daily, working with cutting-edge technologies, and solving complex technical challenges in a high-impact environment.
Responsibilities
Core Development
- Writing production code daily implementing features end-to-end from
database design through API implementation to deployment
- Developing backend services and RESTful APIs that handle business logic, transaction processing, and serve as the foundation for merchant integrations
- Integrating multiple payment providers and financial services through unified interfaces and adapter patterns
- Implementing data models and algorithms that support high-volume
transaction processing and optimise business outcomes based on real-time metrics
- Building microservices that are scalable, maintainable, and follow
established architectural patterns.
Quality & Performance
- Debugging and optimising performance, troubleshooting production issues
and ensuring high-throughput systems with minimal latency
- Writing comprehensive tests including unit tests, integration tests, and
participating in load testing to ensure system reliability
- Participating in code reviews providing constructive feedback to peers and
incorporating feedback into your own work
- Contributing to technical documentation including API specifications,
architecture decisions, and implementation guides
Collaboration
- Working closely with the Tech Lead to implement architectural decisions and
contribute to technical design discussions
- Collaborating with Product to understand requirements, estimate
development effort, and deliver features that meet business needs
- Participating in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups,
and retrospectives as part of an agile development process
- Supporting DevOps processes including deployment pipelines, monitoring
setup, and incident response
Requirements
- Strong backend development experience with proven ability to build
- production-grade distributed systems and RESTful APIs
- Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js with deep understanding of asynchronous programming, event-driven architecture, and performance optimisation
- Experience with Go programming for building high-performance, concurrent systems (nice to have)
- A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience building complex software systems
Technical Knowledge:
- Microservices architecture patterns and API design
- Database design, query optimisation, and caching strategies
- Financial technology systems and transaction processing
- Event-driven architectures and message queues
- Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Security best practices and compliance requirements
Hands-on Experience With
- RESTful API design following OpenAPI standards
- PostgreSQL or similar relational databases with optimization experience
- Redis or similar caching solutions
- Third-party API integrations and adapter pattern implementations
- Git workflows and code review processes
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Software testing frameworks and test-driven development practices
