Senior Business Development Executive

Role Description:

The Senior Business Development Executive is a full-time, on-site role based in Petaling Jaya. This position is responsible for identifying and developing new business & revenue opportunities, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners, and driving revenue growth for Malaysiakini's products and services. Day-to-day tasks include prospecting and qualifying leads, conducting sales presentations and negotiations, preparing proposals, and managing the sales pipeline from initial contact to closing. The role also involves collaborating with editorial, marketing, and product teams to develop tailored solutions for clients, analyzing market trends and competitor activities, and reporting on performance and forecasts to management. The Senior Business Development Executive is expected to represent Malaysiakini professionally at meetings, events, and industry functions, while consistently seeking opportunities to expand the company's reach and impact.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in business development, revenue, sales, account management, or partnerships, preferably in media, advertising, or digital services.
• Strong skills in client relationship building, negotiation, presentation, and consultative selling.
• Ability to conduct market research, analyze data, and translate insights into actionable business strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different stakeholders.
• Comfort working with targets, KPIs, and CRM tools to manage pipelines and report progress.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with digital media, online advertising, and subscription or sponsorship models is an advantage.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
