RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible for driving sustainable business growth and strategic market expansion for biomass and solar energy businesses, including solar photovoltaic (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS), and palm oil industry‑related energy solutions. This role focuses on developing new business opportunities across multiple sectors - not limited to palm oil - while building a strong project pipeline aligned with the Group's strategic objective to strengthen its position as a leading diversified clean energy and climate solutions provider, with a growing footprint in Malaysia, Indonesia, and regional markets.
Business Growth & Market Expansion
- Lead and execute business development initiatives for bio‑energy (biomass boilers, waste‑to‑energy, biogas solutions) and solar energy (C&I, residential, utility‑scale solar, and BESS) segments.
- Promote and position Group's renewable energy, clean energy, and decarbonisation solutions to industrial, commercial, and project-based customers.
- Identify new business opportunities in sectors requiring sustainable energy solutions, emissions reduction, energy cost optimisation, and low‑carbon transition, supporting expansion in Malaysia, Indonesia, and export markets aligned with the Group's footprint.
Strategic Planning & Integration
- Formulate short and long‑term business development strategies aligned with Group objectives, revenue targets, and sustainability commitments.
- Drive cross‑segment integration, leveraging synergies between biomass energy, solar PV, and BESS to offer bundled or integrated clean energy solutions.
- Support strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborations that strengthen the Group's clean energy ecosystem.
- Monitor market trends, customer demand, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
- Recommend go-to-market priorities, partnership strategies, and target sectors to strengthen market penetration.
Commercial & Proposal Management
- Oversee commercial evaluation, tender reviews, and proposal development for EPCC, and power‑related projects in biomass and solar segments.
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure pricing, costing, risk assessment, and contractual terms are commercially sound and compliant with internal approval frameworks.
- Lead early-stage commercial discussions, solution structuring, and negotiations with customers and partners.
Stakeholder & Relationship Management
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including business owners, plant management, technical teams, sustainability leaders, and senior management.
- Represent the Group in business negotiations, customer presentations, industry events, and strategic discussions.
- Communicate the Group's capabilities, value proposition, and integrated clean energy solutions clearly and effectively.
Sustainability and Carbon Market Advantage
- Identify opportunities where carbon reduction outcomes, sustainability reporting, or environmental value creation enhance the customer business case.
- Support solution positioning where decarbonisation impact, carbon credit potential, or climate-linked value propositions are relevant.
- Familiarity with carbon standards (e.g. Verra, or equivalent frameworks) is an advantage in supporting solution credibility and market access.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in business development, solution selling, or commercial roles.
- Experience in renewable energy, clean energy, decarbonisation, or sustainability‑related industries.
- Good verbal and written communication skill, negotiation and interpersonal skill with ability to deal with people at all level.
- Possess analytical and problem-solving skills, task-oriented with good knowledge in presentation and self-motivation.
- Proven leadership capability to lead and manage business development teams.
- Exposure to carbon markets / certification frameworks is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
