Senior Buyer to strengthen its procurement and materials management function.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to ensure material availability, support manufacturing requirements, and drive supply chain performance across key programs
Job Description
- Plan and procure materials to support manufacturing requirements for assigned customer programs.
- Review material requirements and place orders to support project demand timelines.
- Ensure material availability while maintaining healthy inventory levels and minimizing excess stock.
- Analyze material constraints, supplier capacity, cycle times, and supply risks to assess production impact.
- Work directly with suppliers to resolve shortages, delivery commitments, first article inspections, and supply-related challenges.
- Develop mitigation plans for material shortages, order cancellations, rescheduling activities, and supply disruptions.
- Support RFQ activities and lead-time assessments to address procurement and planning challenges.
- Ensure procurement data accuracy within SAP and other business systems.
- Collaborate with Finance and Accounts Payable teams to resolve invoice and payment issues.
- Participate in customer meetings and provide updates on material availability and supply commitments.
- Work closely with Planning, Engineering, Logistics, and Customer Focus Teams to resolve material-related issues and support production readiness.
- Manage product transfers between manufacturing locations and support engineering change activities including BOM and ECO reviews.
- Support supplier onboarding activities and purchasing-related projects as required.
- Drive freight cost reduction initiatives in partnership with local and global logistics teams
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of procurement, purchasing, or buying experience within a manufacturing or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, inventory control, and manufacturing operations.
- Working knowledge of production planning, scheduling, material requirements planning (MRP), and manufacturing systems.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and driving issue resolution in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, with SAP experience being highly advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage both internal and external parties.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies would be an added advantage.
