Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects across various scopes. This role serves as a technical leader and subject matter expert, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while providing mentorship to junior engineering staff and technical guidance to project teams throughout all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

•      Lead the design and development of civil and structural engineering plans, drawings, and specifications across various project scopes.

•      Conduct feasibility studies, site inspections, and surveys to collect essential data for effective project planning and execution.

•      Prepare basic and detailed engineering drawings, design calculations, specifications, and Material Take-Off (MTO) for all civil and structural components.

•      Conduct structural analyses and calculations to ensure the safety and integrity of new structures, as well as assessment and verification of existing structures.

•      Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

•      Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges, providing innovative solutions that meet regulatory requirements and client expectations.

•      Monitor project progress, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

•      Provide technical guidance and support to other disciplines, Project Management, clients, and site teams throughout construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and acceptance testing.

•      Mentor and guide junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and expertise to develop team capabilities.

•      Support the Head of Section in tasks related to discipline development and departmental improvement initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

•      Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field.

•      Professional Engineer registration with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

•      Minimum 6 years of professional experience in executing civil and structural engineering work in the Oil & Gas industry or related industries.

•      Proficiency in industry-standard engineering software including AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, ESTEEM, or equivalent tools.

•      Proven track record of successfully leading the design and delivery of complex civil and structural engineering projects.

•      Demonstrated strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills in tackling challenging engineering issues.

•      Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

•      Familiarity with local building regulations and codes, with a strong understanding of construction methods and materials.

•      Knowledge of Petronas Technical Standards (PTS) requirements will be an added advantage.

Working Conditions

•      Role may be site-based or office-based depending on project requirements.

•      Frequent travel to project sites, client offices, and construction sites may be required.

•      May require overtime or extended working hours during critical project phases, site investigations, and commissioning activities.

•      Potential exposure to site hazards and working in various weather conditions; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
