Job Description

The Senior Consultant leads a team of information technology (IT) professionals and undertakes short-term or long-term projects. The ideal candidate for this position is a customer-focused collaborator with extensive knowledge in ERP solutions and IT systems. This is essential as they empower our SME clients to use technology solutions to overcome problems and achieve business objectives by understanding the needs and limitations of both business and technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Team Lead

  • Oversee, plan, assign, and supervise a team of Analysts and Consultants engaged in delivering IT projects
  • Examine projects in the pipeline, assess the needs of Project Managers responsible for completing those projects, and determine the resource allocation required to complete the projects on time and according to budget
  • Provide help to management and participate in staffing actions including recruitment, hiring, and training new hires
  • Contribute to the growth of the consulting practice through leadership, development of solution accelerators, reusable assets, and participation and ownership of operational areas

Project Management & Implementation

  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and according to budget
  • Identify opportunities to reduce project costs through cross-functional enhancements
  • Meet with clients to determine project requirements and goals, plan timelines, and set deadlines
  • Work directly with clients to lead projects and guide business process analysis sessions
  • Analyze customers IT needs and provide independent and strategic advice for improvement
  • Design, recommend, and implement effective technology solutions that will enhance the clients business functionality and overall performance
  • Identify and resolve gaps in system capabilities
  • Communicate with staff at all levels of the clients organizations
  • Assist clients through the change-management process
  • Conduct research as needed to gain a thorough understanding of system specifications, work practices, and the nature of our clients businesses
  • Develop subject matter expert skills
  • Develop standard project documentations and templates, and prepare documentation and progress reports for clients
  • Review solutions designed by project team members
  • Create testing and training materials for client users and team members
  • Develop data migration strategy and oversee data migration activities

Support

  • Lead, manage, and direct the team to support all aspects of the Support Service operations
  • Responsible for the management and development of the Support Service Structure, implementing service standards and strategies, and developing common systems and processes based on best practice
  • Ensure that incidents and requests are handled according to agreed procedures and ensure that documentation of the supported components is available and in an appropriate form for team members providing support
  • Coordinate the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures and analyze patterns and trends
  • Develop implementation plans for dealing with complex service requests for change or for the introduction of new services, evaluating risks to integrity of existing systems in proposed implementations, and review the effectiveness of change implementation
  • Maintain a dynamic knowledgebase of technical solutions to ensure that the Support Team is as efficient and productive as possible
  • Build and maintain positive client relationships

MAJOR/DISCIPLINE

Computer Science, Information Technology or any related field

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in any of the major/discipline mentioned above or a combination of related experience and education
  • Previous experience in IT consulting or related field
  • One or more years in an IT management position
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding on enterprise software applications, data processing, and hardware platforms
  • Background in web technologies such as HTML, Javascript, Python, JSON, AJAX, and XML
  • Good working skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Project costing and budgeting skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia or any Chinese language preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical clients and colleagues
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organization, planning, and reporting skills with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities
  • Able to adapt and work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Result-oriented individual
