Job Description:
Corporate reputation and communications strategy
- Support the development and execution of SPX Express Malaysia's corporate communications and reputation strategy.
- Translate business priorities, operational developments and industry issues into clear and credible external narratives.
- Identify reputational opportunities and risks, and recommend appropriate communications approaches.
- Develop corporate messaging, narrative frameworks, proof points and communications plans.
- Support the positioning of SPX and its leaders on logistics, technology, operational resilience, workforce development and Malaysia's digital economy.
Issues and crisis communications
- Monitor emerging issues that may affect SPX's reputation and provide timely communications advice.
- Assess issues quickly, establish the known facts and identify potential stakeholder and media concerns.
- Develop response strategies, holding statements, media Q&As, internal briefs and stakeholder communications.
- Work with Operations, Legal, Human Resources and other teams to ensure responses are accurate, proportionate and coordinated.
- Support communications during operational incidents, service disruptions, workforce matters and other reputation-sensitive situations.
Writing and executive communications
- Draft and edit press releases, media statements, holding lines, briefing notes, speeches, talking points, opinion pieces and executive communications.
- Turn complex or technical information into concise, accessible and credible communications.
- Prepare senior leaders for media interviews, stakeholder engagements and difficult questions.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, tone and consistency across corporate communications materials.
Media relations
- Build trusted relationships with business, mainstream, technology and industry media.
- Manage media enquiries, including those involving sensitive or rapidly developing issues.
- Identify strong earned-media opportunities that support SPX's corporate positioning.
- Develop interview angles, media pitches and background materials, and support company spokespeople.
Stakeholder counsel and coordination
- Serve as a trusted communications partner to internal stakeholders.
- Ask the right questions, challenge assumptions constructively and anticipate how decisions may be perceived externally.
- Coordinate communications across SPX, Shopee Malaysia and regional teams where required.
- Manage external communications agencies and partners against agreed strategic and quality expectations.
Requirements:
- 4-6 years of experience in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, or Reputation Management.
- Communications agency experience is highly preferred, particularly in corporate reputation, media relations, or issues and crisis communications.
- Excellent written English with strong drafting skills for press releases, media statements, Q&As, briefing notes, speeches, and executive communications.
- Proven experience managing media relations, handling media enquiries, and building relationships with journalists.
- Strong understanding of issues and crisis communications, with the ability to assess reputational risks and develop effective communication strategies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and/or Mandarin is an added advantage.
- Experience in logistics, e-commerce, technology, or other fast-paced industries is a plus.
