Job Role: Senior Data Analyst, Howden Markets Asia

Location: Howden, Malaysia

Role Overview:

The Senior Data Analyst will be a key member of the regional Howden Markets team, responsible for delivering high-quality data analytics services to insurer clients, producing recurring and bespoke insights that drive business decisions.

This role suits someone who is hands-on with data, confident in storytelling through insights, and comfortable working with regional datasets, remote teams and dynamic business needs.

The job involves producing quarterly business insights, portfolio deep dive insight decks, Power BI dashboards and predictive analytics that identify patterns, risks and opportunities for both insurer partners and Howden's business growth in Asia.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data analytics and insights delivery:
  • Refresh monthly and quarterly regional datasets and ensure data consistency and accuracy
  • Produce portfolio analysis, identifying trends, anomalies, patterns and actionable insights for non-life insurance, Employee Benefits, High Net Worth Life and portfolio solutions (facilities)
  • Prepare and enhance Quarterly Business Review (QBR) reports, including visuals, charts and analyses tailored for insurer partners
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, ensuring they reflect up-to-date business performance
  • Consolidate data from multiple internal and external sources into structured analytical datasets
  • Conduct predictive analytics or advanced statistical modelling (e.g., segmentation, forecasting, pattern detection) to uncover growth opportunities
  • Translate complex analysis into clear, compelling PowerPoint insight decks suitable for business and C-suite audiences.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE:

Technical & Analytical Expertise:

  • Degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business, Economics or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in data analytics, preferably within insurance, banking or consulting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables and data structuring
  • Hands-on experience with business intelligence and analytics tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Strong PowerPoint skills with the ability to convert data into meaningful visual insights
  • Ability to build analytical models and apply predictive analytics techniques to find patterns and opportunities

Insurance Industry & Business Knowledge:

  • Understanding of general insurance, employee benefits, health insurance or related financial services
  • Experience supporting insurer clients or exposure to underwriting, broking, claims or pricing analytics is advantageous
  • Professional insurance certifications (ACII, SCI or equivalent) are valued but not mandatory

  • Proficient in spoken and written English; ability to present insights clearly to diverse audiences
  • Strong time management with the discipline to deliver high-quality outputs independently
  • Comfortable working with remote regional teams and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Analytical mindset with curiosity, business awareness and initiative in identifying opportunities
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
