Preferred level of Experience (by years/function/industry):
More than 6 year experience in database maintenance and administration of group IT RDBMS such as MySQL, MS SQL and Oracle.
Deep technical knowledge of various RDBMS and operating System architecture and concepts with strong troubleshooting skills
Other skills required:
Good interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
Multi OS experience such as Windows, AIX,HP-UX, Solaris and Linux
Microsoft Office skills
Other DBMS or RDBMS
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform troubleshooting on all errors and warning message seen in database logs and OEM alerts daily by raising service request with respective database vendors where necessary to keep the database online without interruption
Review and perform all required RDBMS patches and ensure fixes are applied according to release from respective service providers to keep the database secure, safe, stable and available at all times
Review, analyze and manage all RDBMS errors with proper logging to service providers and follow up until conclusion including resolution deployment where necessary.
Collect and perform analysis of all production database storage data, chart growth pattern, and provide monthly capacity report on database growth
Review and diagnose database slow performance with root cause analysis and propose steps for improvement that leads to overall improve application system performance
Develop, update and enhance scripts used for daily repetitive and mundane task to ease and automate service operations
Perform all application software installation and upgrade request that has been approved by change committee/authorized party to ensure an updated application software version is maintained in Group and deployment being done on a timely basis to meet business requirements
Implement a robust and trustworthy disaster recovery model to meet defined RPO and RTO
Perform database backup to ensure recovery of data up to the point required by the business in the event of a disaster.
Perform periodic analysis of database statistics and performance metrics to prevent any potential database performance degradation and other resource contention
Monitor and add physical storage to databases when threshold is reached to prevent system outages
Perform and review periodically on capacity planning management and configuration management for DB assets in accordance to ISO/IEC 20000 (ITSM) compliance and standard
Perform all activities and processes complies to ITIL, Internal Audit requirements and internal system evaluation criteria to avoid audit finding
Build and maintain Oracle Engineered Systems covering Exadata Storage Cell, InfiniBand Switch, ZDLRA catalog and HyperConverged Infrastructure for MS SQL databases to achieve consistent performance
Prepare RDBMS all documentations, procedures and operational manual for effective planning reference, control and operational standard
Provide 24×7 on call DBA support for Group RDBMS on rotation and need basis to fix any system anomalies
