Our Client
Our client is a global industrial technology group providing advanced processing systems and engineered solutions for process-driven industries. The organization is known for sustainable engineering, customized plant solutions, and long-term partnerships with industrial customers across international markets.
Role Overview
The Senior Design Engineer (Process Layout) will support technical and commercial teams in preparing accurate processing line layouts, plant arrangement drawings, and proposal-stage engineering documentation. This role requires strong drafting capability, practical layout understanding, creative problem-solving, and flexibility in developing workable plant layout solutions based on process requirements, equipment flow, and site constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare processing line layout drawings, plant arrangement drawings, and equipment positioning layouts to support sales proposals, tender submissions, and project planning activities.
- Develop and revise 2D and 3D layout drawings based on input from Sales Managers, Technical Engineers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
- Translate process requirements, equipment lists, site limitations, and customer specifications into clear and practical layout drawings.
- Support the preparation of process flow diagrams, equipment arrangement drawings, and general arrangement layouts for industrial processing systems.
- Review layout feasibility by considering equipment access, material flow, maintenance clearance, installation practicality, safety requirements, and space optimization.
- Modify and improve existing layout concepts by applying creative thinking and flexible problem-solving when dealing with space constraints, process changes, or customer feedback.
- Work closely with engineers and sales teams to ensure drawings are technically accurate, commercially presentable, and aligned with project requirements.
- Assist in preparing layout-related information for quotation, proposal, tender, and project documentation.
- Maintain proper drawing documentation, revision control, drawing libraries, standard templates, and project reference files.
- Coordinate with internal teams to clarify drawing requirements, resolve layout issues, and ensure timely completion of drafting deliverables.
- Support continuous improvement of drafting standards, layout templates, and internal drawing practices.
- Ensure all drawings are prepared in accordance with company standards, engineering guidelines, and project-specific requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, CAD Design, Industrial Design, or related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant drafting experience within industrial equipment, process systems, plant layout, machinery, or engineering solutions environment.
- Hands-on experience in processing line layout preparation, plant arrangement drawings, general arrangement drawings, or equipment layout drawings.
- Proficient in CAD software, especially AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor; exposure to other 3D design tools will be an added advantage.
- Candidates with only product design, automation component design, or conveyor design experience may be considered only if they have strong layout drafting exposure.
- Good understanding of equipment arrangement, process flow, mechanical layout, space planning, and practical installation considerations.
- Able to demonstrate creative thinking, flexibility, and problem-solving ability when preparing or revising layout drawings.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple drawing revisions within project timelines.
- Able to communicate effectively with engineers, sales teams, and project stakeholders.
