Role Summary
Our client, a leading pan-Asian digital insurer operating across 10 markets, is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, manage, and optimise cloud infrastructure supporting high-traffic eCommerce and digital platforms.
The role sits within the Platform Delivery & Digital team and focuses on building scalable, production-grade infrastructure on AWS, with supporting Azure exposure.
The position is based in Malaysia, working closely with distributed development teams across Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and China.
Main Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS (primary) and Azure — ensuring high availability, security, and performance across multi-market eCommerce and digital platforms.
- Set up, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters, including autoscaling, rolling deployments, and environment spin-up and spin-down.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that support fast-paced digital delivery cycles across distributed development teams.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, uptime, and security across multiple environments (development, staging, production) — responding to incidents and driving root cause resolution.
- Collaborate with tech leads and developers (Next.js / React) across Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and China to support platform releases and deployments.
- Establish and document infrastructure standards, runbooks, and best practices to support team consistency and knowledge transfer.
- Drive infrastructure cost optimisation, capacity planning, and cloud governance in alignment with the platform's growth across 10 markets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience demonstrated through production infrastructure work.
- 5+ years of hands-on DevOps or cloud infrastructure experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity. Experience supporting high-traffic consumer-facing platforms is a strong advantage.
- Strong hands-on AWS experience across core services — EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC. Not just configuration: must be able to architect, troubleshoot, and optimise at scale.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, including managing multi-environment configurations and remote state.
- Solid Kubernetes experience — cluster setup, namespace management, autoscaling (HPA/VPA), rolling deployments, and environment lifecycle management.
- Exposure to Azure is a plus. The primary cloud is AWS; Azure familiarity is valued for cross-cloud visibility and integrations.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or equivalent. Comfortable owning the full pipeline from code commit to production.
- Scripting proficiency in Bash and/or Python for infrastructure automation, tooling, and operational tasks.
- Strong communication skills in English — able to work effectively across distributed teams in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and China.
- Insurance, fintech, or regulated digital platform experience is a bonus. What matters most is a track record of stable, scalable infrastructure delivery in a fast-moving product environment.
