Job Description
As the Discliple senior advisor for the Digital Garage, you will play a pivotal role in advancing digital innovation across the Procurement function. You will lead the strategic identification, piloting, and scaling of new and emerging technology solutions, shaping the future of bp's procurement operating model and enabling faster-paced operational transformation at scale.
This role is accountable for embedding robust procurement innovation frameworks; integrating external technology partners and solutions; and driving effective digital usage of procurement processes and systems.
You will serve as the central interface between Procurement and the external technology market, ensuring the rigorous selection of high-potential pilots and driving deep internal network engagement to champion their adoption.
As the champion for digital acceleration, technology innovation, and business reinvention, you will empower procurement teams and leadership to operate at pace, enhance operational agility, and unlock greater business value for bp.
Let me tell you about the role
Responsible delivering elements of the strategic plan for their field, working across procurement, and beyond, to deliver projects and / or activities that move the practice of their field forward.
- Is responsible for programmes of activity, for their field, which further the quality of its practice across finance – procurement, sharing standard methodology and improving the overall quality of the practice of the subject area.
- Sets their projects in the context of the broader procurement strategy / objectives, enduring they are complementary
- Interacts with relevant groups, across bp, in order to ensure that the pursuit of their field is aligned with the wider bp strategy on it
- Builds a good knowledge and understanding of the field in order that they can act as the go to SME for a project or activity within finance – procurement and, where relevant, bp
- Understands industry standard methodology for their project or activity and incorporates it, learning from the experiences of others
- Effectively engages externally, representing bp externally within their field, building a reputation as an expert in their field
- Good understanding of procurement practices, structure and strategy
- Ensures their activities are in compliance with the appropriate internal and external governance including, but not limited to, ABC/AML, export controls, trade sanctions and other relevant E&C policies
Team integration: Helps to create and embraces a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement in their team and across the procurement organisation. Develops their technical skills and represents the their field across procurement and the broader organization.
- Collaborates with the multiple teams in delivery of their field's projects or activities to support safe, competitive and predictable delivery
- Develops their technical capabilities and accelerator skills

Transformation Leadership and Change Management: Leads major change initiatives, for their field, which make procurement more efficient or effective. Delivers projects in a dynamic environment.
- Delivers change across a diverse partner landscape
- Employs digital tools to drive innovation and value creation
- Uses influencing, storytelling and strong communication to encourage adoption
- Uses metrics / OKRs and strong change management to ensure changes are embedded for the longer term
- Actively employs existing internal relationships to identify enthusiastic pilot participants, build advocacy, and drive user engagement during testing phases.
- Acts as a translator between technical pilot requirements and the practical, day-to-day realities of the sourcing and category teams.
- Captures candid, informal feedback through positive relationships to accurately assess whether a pilot should be scaled or discontinued.
- Compose and implement successful pilots. Develop hypotheses, determine solutions, test and measure value.
- Go from zero to one: quickly navigate bp governance and process, influence teams and gain support to enable pilots to deliver.
- Support the attitude shift required to transition from traditional ways of working towards an agile way of thinking
What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)
- It will be essential that you have a deep understanding of bp procurement processes, tools and existing systems such as Ariba and/or SAP and operational empathy: possessing a deep, practical understanding of current procurement workflows and operational realities, ensuring that proposed pilots genuinely address business pain points and make practical sense for the teams doing the work
- Internal Network: Brings a well-established and highly respected internal network across bp procurement teams, acting as a trusted advisor to readily secure consensus for new technology pilots.
- Influencing: Master communicator, using a range of styles and approaches to gain commitment and support from diverse internal collaborators to help achieve business outcomes, create acceptance for decisions, build consensus or resolve conflict. Recognizes, anticipates and effectively deals with existing or potential conflicts at an individual or team level. Communicates and influences across all parts of the organisation, bringing in different perspectives to challenge thinking and improve solutions. Brings diverse partners together to align objectives and solve business problems, intervening where required to inspire more creativity and to stretch goals further. Applies diverse experience of peers to improve thinking, always operating with a one team, one bp perspective.
- Value Creation: Expert in building value cases. Looks for value beyond cost reduction, exploring improvements in ways of working (efficiency), innovation, sustainability and revenue generation opportunities.
- Business Insight and Market Intelligence: Understands procurement business operations, commercial landscapes and external market factors to recommend actions that create or protect value and connects work and personal contribution to bp's bottom line. Demonstrates a strong market orientation and strategic perspective; acquires knowledge of bp's demand and supply markets and leverages this to solve problems and/or create opportunities for bp. Identifies new market drivers and data to bring credibility and strength to new methods and value.
- Experience with one or more digital procurement platforms and solutions, such as Fairmarkit, Globality, EcoVadis, Emitwise, Cirtuo, Axiom, or similar procurement and supplier management tools.
- Experience setting up deals in excess of $500k total contract size.
- Experience working in an agile team, running PoC's or pilots
