The Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer role will be based at the Kuala Lumpur Office and engaged on a one-year contract under a third-party manpower arrangement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Instrumentation / Control Engineering and registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
- 10 to 15 years of experience in offshore oil and gas E&I engineering, preferably with operating assets and brownfield projects.
- Strong experience in brownfield modifications and platform tie-ins.
- Practical knowledge of offshore power systems, instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience supporting EPCIC execution and managing contractors.
- Good understanding of offshore operational and construction constraints.
- Experience with FPSO / FSO / MOPU facilities.
- Experience with platform-to-floater electrical and control system integration.
- Exposure to DCS, ESD, F&G systems and marine system interfaces.
- Experience with late-life assets, reliability improvement and revamp projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Brownfield Support
- Provide E&I engineering support to operating offshore facilities, including troubleshooting, reliability improvement and modification works.
- Support brownfield redevelopment, infill well tie-ins and asset life extension projects involving existing platforms and floating facilities.
- Review existing electrical and control systems capacity, limitations and operability for new tie-ins and modifications.
Design, Project & Contractor Support
- Prepare and develop technical scopes of work for E&I engineering studies, FEED, DDE and EPCIC phases, covering brownfield tie-ins, equipment additions and control system modifications.
- Perform E&I design and engineering for brownfield modifications from concept through detailed design, including review of existing systems and definition of upgrade requirements.
- Review existing electrical and control systems and propose practical improvement solutions to enhance reliability, operability and maintainability.
- Support power system studies, load lists, short-circuit, protection coordination and hazardous area compliance for modifications and new scopes.
- Provide technical input on instrumentation, control and safeguarding philosophy for process and utility systems.
- Participate in multi-discipline design reviews and constructability / operability workshops to ensure safe and practical design.
- Prepare technical documentation, cost estimates, work & program budget inputs for assigned scopes.
- Review engineering contractor deliverables including: - Single line diagrams, load lists and cable schedules - Instrument datasheets, hook-up drawings and loop diagrams - Control philosophies, cause & effect charts and I/O lists.
Floating Facilities & EPCIC Interface
- Support E&I design for FPSO / FSO / MOPU facilities, including power generation, distribution, instrumentation and control systems.
- Provide technical input for platform-to-floater tie-ins, including signal integration, control system interfacing and communications.
- Support EPCIC execution by reviewing contractor designs, vendor packages and interface management between topsides, marine and onshore systems.
Execution & Commissioning Support
- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, hook-up, commissioning and start-up.
- Support site troubleshooting, technical queries and management of change (MOC).
- Support loop checking, functional testing, system integration testing and start-up activities.
- Ensure drawings and documentation are updated to reflect as-built conditions.
HSE & Compliance
- Support HAZOP, SIL, alarm management and functional safety activities.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, PETRONAS / regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Support electrical and control system safety, hazardous area compliance and reliability initiatives.
