Overview
A globally operating organisation is seeking a Senior Employment Counsel to support a wide range of employment law matters across the APAC region.
This role requires a commercially minded legal professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment and can independently manage complex employment law issues across multiple jurisdictions. The position involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external clients, with a strong focus on practical, solution-oriented legal advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear, pragmatic employment law advice across multiple APAC jurisdictions
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, and related documentation
- Advise on the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, benefits, workplace policies, disciplinary matters, terminations, and restructuring
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes by identifying jurisdiction-specific employment risks and compliance requirements
- Monitor legal developments across jurisdictions and proactively communicate relevant updates to stakeholders
- Independently manage complex and sensitive legal matters in a timely manner
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, operations, compliance, and client-facing functions
- Engage and coordinate with external counsel on litigation or specialised matters when required
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, training initiatives, and continuous process improvements
- Deliver work within defined service levels and turnaround expectations in a high-volume environment
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a valid licence to practise in an APAC jurisdiction
- Minimum 4+ years experience specialising in employment law
- Demonstrated experience in a client-facing legal role
- Experience in both private practice and in-house environments preferred
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating employment-related documentation
- Ability to manage legal matters independently and efficiently
- Exposure to multiple jurisdictions or a strong willingness and ability to learn quickly
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable working in a remote, international environment with time zone collaboration
Preferred Background
- Experience working within HR services, Employer of Record (EOR), payroll, PEO, global mobility, HR technology, workforce consulting, compliance advisory, or other multi-jurisdictional people-focused environments
- Experience supporting multinational or globally distributed organisations
- Exposure to APAC employment law frameworks beyond home jurisdiction
- Experience working with or managing external counsel on employment matters
