Position Title: Senior Engineer, Design (Civil & Structural)

Job Summary
The Senior Engineer, Design (Civil & Structural) is responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating civil and structural engineering designs for Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects. This includes foundations, mounting structures, drainage systems, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safety, durability, and compliance with regulatory and industry standards. The role requires strong expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical considerations, and large-scale project execution to support Cyparks renewable energy development goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering
- Prepare and review civil & structural designs, drawings, and calculations for LSS projects, including foundations, pile/raft designs, access roads, drainage, and slope protection.
- Ensure PV module mounting structures and foundations are designed for long-term reliability under site-specific geotechnical and environmental conditions.
- Conduct structural analysis, load calculations, and finite element modelling where necessary.
- Validate consultants and contractors design submissions for compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Ensure designs adhere to MS, BS, Eurocode, UBBL, and other relevant standards and statutory requirements.
2. Project Support & Coordination
- Provide technical input during feasibility studies, tendering, and EPC contractor evaluations.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Project Management teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Conduct site visits to review geotechnical conditions, assess constructability, and resolve design-related issues.
- Support construction, testing, and commissioning by reviewing shop drawings and addressing on-site design challenges.
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Prepare structural design reports, calculations, and engineering documentation for submission to authorities and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations in all design aspects.
- Maintain accurate records of design documentation for audits and project reference.
4. Leadership & Mentoring
- Guide junior engineers and C&S design team members, ensuring knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Promote best practices in structural design, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent. Professional Engineer (Ir.) with BEM registration is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum 710 years of experience in civil & structural design, with at least 5 years in renewable energy or Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects.
- Technical Competence:
- Strong knowledge in foundation and structural design for solar PV mounting systems.
- Proficiency in structural design software (STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Familiarity with Malaysian construction standards (MS, BS, Eurocode, UBBL) and CIDB requirements.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Other: Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
