Job Summary
The Senior Engineer (Civil & Structural) is responsible for developing, reviewing, and validating civil and structural engineering designs for Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects. This includes foundations, mounting structures, drainage systems, and supporting infrastructure to ensure safety, durability, and compliance with regulatory and industry standards. The role requires strong expertise in structural analysis, geotechnical considerations, and large-scale project execution to support Cypark's renewable energy development goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering
- Lead the preparation and review of civil & structural (C&S) designs, drawings, and calculations for LSS projects, covering foundations, pile/raft designs, access roads, drainage, and slope protection.
- Ensure long-term structural reliability of PV module mounting systems and foundations, incorporating site-specific geotechnical and environmental factors.
- Perform advanced structural analysis, load assessments, and finite element modelling (FEM) to optimize designs.
- Validate and approve consultants and contractors design submissions for full compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Guarantee that all designs meet Malaysian Standards (MS), British Standards (BS), Eurocode, UBBL, and all statutory requirements.
2. Project Support & Coordination
- Provide expert technical input during feasibility studies, tender evaluations, and EPC contractor selection.
- Collaborate closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Project Management teams to ensure fully integrated design and project delivery.
- Conduct site visits to assess geotechnical conditions, constructability, and to address design-related issues promptly.
- Support construction, testing, and commissioning phases by reviewing shop drawings and resolving on-site design challenges.
3. Compliance & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive structural design reports, calculations, and engineering documentation for authority approvals and stakeholder submissions.
- Ensure all design activities comply with environmental, safety, and quality regulations.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready records of design documentation and revisions.
4. Leadership & Mentoring
- Coach and mentor junior engineers and C&S team members, fostering knowledge transfer and professional development.
- Champion best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement in structural design processes.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (Ir.) registration with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 710 years of civil & structural design experience, with at least 5 years in renewable energy or Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proven proficiency in foundation and structural design for solar PV mounting systems.
- Skilled in structural design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
- Deep knowledge of Malaysian construction standards (MS, BS, Eurocode, UBBL) and CIDB requirements.
- Core Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent project management skills, and effective cross-disciplinary communication.
- Other: Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
