Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Engineer / Technical Specialist – IT Infrastructure, Network, Security & Cloud Connectivity to provide senior-level technical support across enterprise infrastructure and cybersecurity initiatives.
The role will be involved in technical execution, solution validation, implementation coordination, troubleshooting, documentation, risk management, testing, and operational readiness across areas including enterprise networking, wireless infrastructure, firewall security, data centre networking, WAN/SD-WAN, and Azure/cloud connectivity.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal infrastructure and cybersecurity teams, project managers, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure solutions are technically sound, secure, supportable, and ready for production.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support across enterprise networking, switching, routing, wireless, firewall, WAN/SD-WAN, data centre networking, and cloud connectivity.
- Support Azure connectivity and secure cloud networking initiatives.
- Participate in technical design reviews and validate Project Design Review (PDR) and Final Design Review (FDR) requirements.
- Review proposed technical solutions to ensure they are secure, supportable, scalable, and aligned with internal IT standards.
- Review implementation, migration, cutover, rollback, and testing plans to ensure implementation readiness.
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, infrastructure/operations teams, cybersecurity teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Provide technical support throughout implementation, migration, testing, commissioning, UAT, defect remediation, cutover, and post-implementation stabilisation.
- Conduct technical assessments of existing infrastructure and identify readiness gaps, technical risks, and remediation requirements.
- Review vendor technical submissions, including proposals, Bills of Materials (BOMs), configurations, methodologies, and test plans, against approved requirements and scope.
- Support cybersecurity-by-design requirements, including network segmentation, access control, firewall policies, logging, monitoring, and system hardening.
- Coordinate and validate SIT, UAT, failover, performance, connectivity, and security rule testing.
- Track technical defects, issues, and findings through to closure, ensuring appropriate ownership and supporting evidence.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including implementation records, as-built documentation, test evidence, issue logs, risk registers, change requests, and handover documents.
- Lead operational handover and knowledge-transfer activities, including preparation of handover packs, SOPs, support guides, and runbooks.
- Support incident analysis, root-cause investigation, troubleshooting, and service restoration for assigned infrastructure and network systems.
- Monitor project activities against timelines, quality expectations, technical requirements, and risk mitigation plans.
- Escalate technical issues and delivery risks promptly to the relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical input for governance activities, including risk registers, issue logs, change requests, evaluation papers, and technical decision papers.
- Ensure implemented solutions meet internal IT standards, cybersecurity requirements, operational requirements, and governance expectations before production acceptance.
- Provide BAU technical support during critical project execution periods to maintain operational continuity.
- Recommend continuous improvements to infrastructure design, implementation practices, monitoring, automation, resiliency, and operational processes.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, network engineering, network implementation, data centre networking, firewall/security implementation, wireless infrastructure, WAN/SD-WAN, or cloud connectivity.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of enterprise networking, switching, routing, wireless, firewall, and network security.
- Experience supporting WAN/SD-WAN and data centre network environments.
- Working experience with cloud connectivity, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience participating in infrastructure implementation, migration, testing, commissioning, and production cutover activities.
- Strong understanding of network segmentation, access control, firewall policies, security hardening, logging, and monitoring.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
- Experience working with vendors and reviewing technical proposals, configurations, BOMs, implementation methodologies, and test plans.
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Good stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple technical activities in a project environment.
