About the role
We are seeking a talented and driven Senior Executive - Accountant to join our dynamic team at TVS Supply Chain Solutions Global Forwarding Solutions in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The Accountant is responsible for maintaining a full set of accounts and ensuring timely and accurate month-end closing, financial reporting, and compliance with Malaysian statutory and tax requirements. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders, auditors, and tax agents, and will also provide support for financial planning, analysis, and business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain a full set of accounts, including GL, AP, AR, fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities accurately and within deadlines.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reports, and supporting schedules.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare and review intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and balances.
Accounts Receivable & Payable
- Oversee accounts receivable and payable, including invoice processing, payments, collections, and aging analysis.
- Monitor outstanding receivables, follow up on overdue debts, and ensure credit limits are properly maintained.
- Ensure all payments and receipts are properly authorised and recorded.
Tax & Statutory Compliance (Malaysia)
- Prepare and support Malaysian tax compliance, including SST/GST (if applicable), corporate tax estimates, and tax schedules.
- Liaise with external tax agents on tax filings, computations, and queries from authorities.
- Keep up to date with changes in Malaysian tax and statutory requirements and assess their impact on the company.
Audit & External Liaison
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for annual and interim audits.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretary, bankers, and other professional advisors.
- Respond to audit queries and implement audit recommendations where applicable.
Financial Planning & Analysis Support
- Provide support for budgeting and forecasting.
- Assist in financial analysis, variance analysis, and ad-hoc management reporting.
- Support management with financial insights to improve business performance and cost control.
- Ensure internal controls and accounting procedures are adhered to and remain effective.
- Review and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Propose and implement process improvements, including system or workflow enhancements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or MIA is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably handling a full set of accounts.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Hands-on experience with month-end closing, audit, AR/AP, and intercompany accounting.
- Proficient in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
