Job description
A. HCAI Management
- Perform surveillance of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI), as well as targeted surveillance in problem areas.
- Analyze and distribute monthly and quarterly surveillance data to the Infection Control Committee and quarterly unit-specific and service-specific HCAI reports to the medical staff, nursing staff and the quality, safety and innovations department.
- Monitor trends in unusual or resistant organisms (community-acquired or HCAI) for evidence of spread to other patients, visitors or employees.
B. Infection Control Practices
- Ensure the infection prevention and control procedures meet regulatory, accreditation bodies, CDC, and WHO regulations, standards or guidelines.
- Use clinical knowledge, judgement and skill to influence and embed safe, evidence-based practice in infection control across areas of responsibility.
- To work with Ward / Department Managers to improve standards of cleanliness within the hospital environment.
C. Education
- To assist with the training and education of all hospital staff in relation to infection control and antimicrobial stewardship
- To assess and identify the infection control training needs for all hospital staff and to develop and deliver appropriate training packages to meet those needs
- Assist the Infection Control Manager in providing an infection control resource for all staff and promote an interest in the control of infection amongst staff.
- Carry out training and education as required within the clinical settings to encourage and maintain good infection control practices.
Job Requirement
- Diploma in Nursing
- Post Basic in Infection Control is required
- 3 to 5 years experience in hospital / healthcare setting
- Knowledge in infection control practices
- Comprehend MOH, WHO, CDC infection control guidelines
- Understand various accreditation requirement on infection control practices
- Ability to promote the philosophy of continuous quality improvement
