Job Purpose:
As a Senior Executive in Internal Audit, you will be responsible for conducting independent assessments of the organization's internal controls, risk management processes, and financial systems. This role demands a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, capable of providing valuable insights to enhance organizational efficiency, ensure compliance, and mitigate risks. The position reports directly to the Head of Internal Audit.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential areas of risk across the organization and evaluate existing controls to mitigate those risks effectively.
- Develop Audit Plans: Design and implement audit plans based on the results of risk assessments and organizational priorities.
- Lead Internal Audits: Execute and lead internal audit engagements following established standards and methodologies, ensuring thorough testing of controls and systems.
- Evaluate Internal Controls: Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, compliance with organizational policies, and adherence to relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Prepare Audit Reports: Draft comprehensive audit reports that include key findings, recommendations for improvement, and corrective actions for management to address identified issues.
- Present Audit Findings: Communicate audit results clearly to senior management and key stakeholders, providing actionable recommendations to improve processes.
- Operational Process Improvements: Offer strategic recommendations to enhance internal controls, operational efficiency, and risk management across departments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the organization complies with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies, identifying gaps or non-compliance areas and working with stakeholders to address them.
- Stay Current with Industry Changes: Keep abreast of changes in regulations, audit standards, and best practices to ensure the internal audit function remains effective and compliant.
- Cross-departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to understand their processes, address audit concerns, and implement recommended improvements.
- Build Stakeholder Relationships: Cultivate effective relationships with stakeholders across the organization to facilitate smooth audit processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, or ACCA are highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven experience in internal audit, risk management, or a related field, with a solid track record of successful audits and risk assessments.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO), risk assessment methodologies, and audit techniques.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to assess complex data and identify key risk areas.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively to senior management and stakeholders.
- Teamwork & Independence: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating initiative and leadership as needed.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, particularly within Malaysia.
