Job Description

Main responsibilities:

The Project Planner supports the State Office of Negeri Sembilan & Melaka Team in planning, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting approved new and ongoing water infrastructure development projects. The role plays a key part in ensuring projects are executed in accordance with approved schedules through systematic review of work programmes prepared by consultants and contractors, as well as continuous progress monitoring and reporting.

Tasks:

1. Project Planning and Scheduling:

  • Utilizes project management software to track progress and update project timelines.
  • Identifies and addresses potential scheduling conflicts and recommends solutions to keep projects on track.

2. Progress Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Monitors and tracks project progress against approved milestones, timelines, and key deliverables.
  • Prepares periodic progress reports for the State Office and submits them to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Produces additional reports as required, including performance dashboards, ad-hoc status updates, and executive summaries.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date project records, including schedules, progress reports, correspondence, and change logs.

3. Work Programme Review and Assessment:

  • Reviews and evaluates work programme submissions from consultants and contractors.
  • Ensures submitted work programmes are realistic, achievable, and compliant with contractual requirements, specifications and project objectives.
  • Provides clear feedback and recommendations for revisions or improvements to work programmes where necessary.
  • Monitors adherence to approved work programmes and highlights any deviations, delays, or non-compliance.

Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Project Management, or a related discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience in assessing and managing Extension of Time (EOT) claims.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong planning, organisational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Proficiency in developing, maintaining, and presenting dashboard reports using data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
