JOB PURPOSE
The Executive, Student Engagement & Leadership supports the delivery of a positive student onboarding, transition and engagement experience, helping new students successfully navigate their journey into Taylor's University and Taylor's College. The role supports Orientation programmes, transition initiatives and student engagement activities that enable students to understand their new environment, access relevant support, build meaningful connections and develop an early sense of belonging to the Taylor's community.
The role also serves as an advisor to assigned student organisations and supports student participation in the SHINE Award. Working collaboratively with student leaders, Orientation Leaders, academic and professional departments, the Executive coordinates programmes and operational requirements while providing guidance that promotes leadership development, accountability and a vibrant student experience.
KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the planning and delivery of a structured onboarding experience that enables new students to successfully transition into University and College life.
Collaborate with the Orientation Committee to plan, coordinate and deliver Orientation programmes across major University and College intakes.
Coordinate assigned Orientation sessions and activities, ensuring programmes are engaging, informative, inclusive and aligned with overall Orientation objectives.
Coordinate administrative and logistical requirements including venues, schedules, programme materials, student communications, registrations and other operational arrangements.
Liaise with academic Schools, professional departments, Orientation Leaders and other stakeholders to ensure programmes and information are coordinated and delivered effectively.
Work closely with Orientation Leaders in preparing and delivering Orientation activities while supporting their development as student leaders and ambassadors of Taylor's.
Support the administration and continuous enhancement of the Taylor's Orientation Portal, ensuring information is accurate, current, relevant and accessible to new students.
Support the development and dissemination of Orientation and onboarding communications across appropriate channels to ensure students receive timely and accurate information.
Coordinate initiatives that support students beyond Orientation, particularly during the initial weeks and months of their student journey.
Support onboarding arrangements for students who arrive after scheduled Orientation programmes, including international students and students requiring additional transition assistance.
Develop activities and touchpoints that encourage new students to build peer connections, participate in campus life and develop a sense of belonging within the Taylor's community.
Promote opportunities for students to participate in Clubs & Societies, student leadership, sports, volunteering, SHINE and other experiential activities.
Work collaboratively with academic Schools and relevant Student Experience functions to provide coordinated onboarding and transition support.
Collect and analyse participation data, student feedback and satisfaction results to identify transition challenges and recommend improvements to future onboarding and Orientation programmes.
Serve as the designated advisor to assigned student organisations, ensuring alignment with University policies and promoting leadership and holistic student development.
Provide guidance in the planning, implementation and evaluation of student-led events and initiatives, ensuring quality, safety, appropriate risk assessment and compliance with institutional standards.
Support student organisations in strengthening their internal structures, governance and operational effectiveness to promote sustainability and continuity.
Provide mentorship to student leaders in areas including communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, decision-making, accountability and succession planning.
Ensure appropriate documentation of student organisation activities, including meeting minutes, financial records, event proposals and post-event reports.
Advise and support student organisations in end-to-end event planning and execution, including budgeting, logistics, risk management and contingency planning.
Facilitate collaboration between student organisations and relevant University departments to enhance resource sharing and programme effectiveness.
Act as a bridge between student organisations and University administration, facilitating communication and adherence to established procedures.
Guide student leaders in understanding and adhering to institutional policies, constitutions, procedures and ethical leadership practices.
Encourage student leaders to document their contributions and learning through SHINE and other relevant student recognition frameworks.
Promote student participation in the SHINE Award and guide students in documenting their leadership, co-curricular and experiential learning journey.
Review and validate assigned student reflections in accordance with established guidelines and Service Level Agreements.
Ensure assigned student organisations contribute eligible experiential activities to the SHINE Portal and understand the relevant processes.
Respond to student and student leader enquiries relating to SHINE eligibility, reflection submissions, activities and portal processes.
Support initiatives that increase awareness and participation in SHINE and strengthen its integration into the overall student engagement experience.
Uphold high standards of professionalism, quality assurance and customer service in all interactions with students and stakeholders.
Contribute to departmental and University-wide projects, working groups, committees and major events as assigned.
Work collaboratively with colleagues across Student Engagement & Leadership and the wider Student Experience portfolio, particularly during major programmes and peak operational periods.
Carry out other responsibilities assigned by the Manager, Head, Director or Senior Director based on evolving departmental and institutional priorities.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Management, Psychology, Education, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Hospitality & Events Management or an equivalent discipline.
Professional certifications or training in student affairs, project management, event management, facilitation or related areas will be an added advantage.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience, preferably within higher education, student affairs, student engagement, customer experience, events management or a related service environment.
Experience in supporting Orientation, student onboarding, student organisations, student events or youth engagement programmes will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple activities, work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and engage confidently with students.
