Job Description

Job Summary

Lead the assessment and implementation of emerging communications technologies within assigned domains, including Vertical Applications, by delivering domain insights, managing technology initiatives and supporting MyTMAP2030 execution to enable informed decision-making, industry adoption and regulatory readiness in line with national priorities.

Job Responsibilities

1. Lead the assessment and tracking of developments within assigned technology domain(s), including Vertical Applications, to provide timely insights on trends, adoption and emerging issues.

2. Manage domain-level inputs to MyTMAP2030 by monitoring technology developments, industry adoption, trials, POCs and standards activities to support accurate and up-to-date tracking.

3. Contribute to MyTMAP2030 coordination and execution by maintaining structured domain updates and supporting alignment with departmental requirements.

4. Contribute to the development and review of technology roadmaps, policies and guidelines to facilitate adoption and implementation of emerging technologies.

5. Lead and manage assigned technology projects, trials and proof-of-concept initiatives to support validation of technologies and development of use cases.

6. Manage and support Trial, Experimentation and Demonstration (TED) applications by evaluating submissions, facilitating assessments and supporting timely processing.

7. Contribute to standards development and technical engagements (e.g. MTSFB, DSM, APT, ITU) by providing domain-specific inputs and supporting alignment with industry practices.

8. Engage industry, academia and relevant stakeholders to obtain insights, support technology adoption and strengthen ecosystem collaboration.

9. Plan and deliver assigned programmes and initiatives (e.g. Digital Outlook Series or domain-related activities) to promote awareness and understanding of emerging technologies.

10. Provide guidance and support to team members and contribute to departmental deliverables, including undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g. telecommunications, technology management, policy or business) is an added advantage.
  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant working experience in the communications and multimedia industry or related technology sectors, with exposure to technology assessment, implementation, projects, trials or standards-related activities.

Technical Competencies/Skills

  • Working knowledge of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 1998) and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Good understanding of emerging communications technologies and industry trends, particularly in Vertical Applications and related domains.
  • Capability in tracking, analyzing and reporting technology developments to support MYTMAP2030 implementation and updates.
  • Familiarity with standards development processes (e.g. MTSFB, Department of Standards Malaysia, APT, ITU).
  • Experience in managing or supporting technology projects, trials or proof-of-concept initiatives (e.g. TED applications).
  • Ability to assess technology use cases and industry adoption trends to support development of guidelines, policies and roadmap inputs.
  • Understanding of cross-domain technology interactions, including integration of applications with communications infrastructure.
  • Ability to translate technology developments into practical applications and domain-level insights.
