Operating as an Associate Director–equivalent leader, you will sit at the intersection of financial discipline, commercial growth, and executive strategy. Designed for a seasoned professional with 10 to 15 years of experience, this role serves as the primary strategic co-pilot to the CEO (Malaysia) and Regional CFO, translating financial and operational data into bold commercial actions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
- Act as the strategic finance co-pilot to the Malaysia CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and Regional CFO, shaping long-term business strategy, pricing, and expansion models.
- Evaluate high-stakes business opportunities, potential joint ventures, new monetization channels, and strategic commercial commitments in Malaysia.
- Drive executive-level decision-making by translating complex financial, operational, and macroeconomic data into clear strategic options and trade-off analyses.
- Build high-trust relationships across creative, commercial, and operational units, embedding a strict continuous-improvement and ROI-driven mindset across non-finance leadership.
2. Commercial FP&A & Growth Optimization
- Lead the end-to-end annual budgeting, dynamic forecasting, and long-range financial planning (LRFP) processes for HEPMIL Malaysia, aligning local targets with regional strategic imperatives.
- Champion a high-performance Cash Culture, taking full ownership of Net Working Capital (NWC) optimization, receivables strategy, and operational cash-flow performance.
- Oversee commercial deal structuring, client profitability modeling, creator payout economics, and margin optimization strategies across MGAG and HCN operations.
- Establish advanced KPI frameworks and deliver variance analytics that pinpoint operational gaps, profit leaks, and revenue-acceleration opportunities.
3. Governance, Compliance & Capital Control
- Oversee the integrity, completeness, and executive presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting cycles.
- Ensure strict compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), IFRS, local tax legislation, and corporate governance standards.
- Serve as the senior liaison for internal and external audits, banking partners, and tax authorities in Malaysia.
- Partner with regional finance leadership to design, implement, and maintain rigorous financial risk management policies and internal controls.
4. Team Leadership & Organizational Impact
- Coach, mentor, and build high-performing finance talent within the local entity.
- Lead cross-functional finance projects and digital transformation initiatives (e.g., ERP/financial software upgrades, automation, analytics dashboards).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional Qualifications: Mandatory professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MIA, or equivalent).
- Experience: 10 to 15 years of progressive corporate finance, FP&A, or commercial finance experience. Proven track record in a fast-paced media, agency, tech startup, or scale-up environment is strongly preferred.
- Accounting & Tax Standards: Deep technical expertise in MFRS, IFRS, corporate secretarial compliance, and Malaysian corporate and indirect tax frameworks (SST, Income Tax Act).
- Systems Proficiency: High proficiency with modern cloud ERP/accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, NetSuite, or SAP), advanced Excel financial modeling, and BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Leadership & Influence: Demonstrated executive presence with the confidence to challenge senior business stakeholders and negotiate high-value commercial terms.
- Strategic Vision: Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and commercial acumen—capable of balancing high-level strategy with grounded operational execution.
