What you'll do:

As Senior Finance Manager at this oil and gas company, you will play a central role in driving the success of the finance function. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve overseeing all aspects of financial reporting under PRC GAAP and IFRS standards while ensuring strict compliance with local tax laws. You will lead budgeting cycles and forecasting exercises that inform strategic decision-making across the business. By implementing rigorous cost control measures for upstream projects-including drilling and development-you will help optimise expenditure in alignment with group policies. Your expertise in treasury management will be crucial for maintaining healthy cash flows and managing cross-border transactions. In addition to technical duties, you will nurture a collaborative environment within your team of finance professionals by promoting accountability and continuous learning. Engaging regularly with operational teams, supply chain partners, and joint ventures will allow you to provide valuable insights that shape business outcomes. Through clear communication in meetings and presentations, you will ensure that financial performance is understood at every level of the organisation.

* Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes under PRC GAAP and group financial reporting accounting standards (IFRS), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

* Ensure full compliance with local tax regulations including VAT, corporate income tax, resource taxes, and manage statutory audits by liaising with external auditors and regulatory authorities.

* Lead the annual budgeting process as well as periodic forecasting activities, monitoring variances between actuals and budgets while providing actionable insights to senior management.

* Implement cost control measures for upstream projects such as drilling and development activities, managing AFE processes and tracking CAPEX/OPEX spending in line with group policies.

* Oversee treasury functions including cash flow planning, banking relationships, foreign exchange management, and ensure compliance with SAFE regulations for cross-border transactions.

* Monitor monthly cashflow and plan cash calls efficiently to maintain optimal liquidity for business operations.

* Manage and mentor a team of 4-5 finance professionals by fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the department.

* Partner closely with operations teams, supply chain colleagues, and joint venture partners to support informed business decisions through robust financial analysis.

* Prepare comprehensive financial presentations for management meetings and joint venture committees that clearly communicate results and recommendations.

* Attend monthly finance meetings to present financial results effectively to both local office leadership and Kuala Lumpur head office.

What you bring:

Your extensive background in finance-particularly within oil and gas sector-will be instrumental in excelling as Finance Manager. With at least 15 years experience under your belt, you bring not only technical mastery but also nuanced understanding of industry-specific challenges such as upstream project accounting. Your academic credentials (ideally complemented by CPA/CICPA/ACCA certification) reflect your commitment to professional excellence. Proficiency in SAP ERP systems alongside advanced Excel capabilities means you can handle complex data sets efficiently while presenting findings clearly using PowerPoint. Fluency in English allows seamless collaboration across multicultural teams. * A minimum of 15 years progressive finance experience is required, including several years within oil and gas industry sector.

* Demonstrated expertise in PRC GAAP accounting standards as well as deep understanding of local tax regulations relevant to the oil and gas industry.

* Proven track record in upstream project accounting including cost control measures for drilling or development activities.

* Advanced proficiency in ERP systems such as SAP along with strong Excel skills and ability to create impactful PowerPoint presentations.

* Fluency in English is mandatory for effective communication across teams and stakeholders.

* Exceptional leadership abilities demonstrated through successful team management or mentoring roles within finance departments.

* Excellent analytical skills combined with attention to detail enable you to deliver accurate reports while identifying key trends or risks.
