The Cloud Enterprise Architect is responsible for defining and governing the Group-wide cloud reference architectures and target state, shaping enterprise-scale adoption strategies, and guiding solution architecture for major programs. This role will ensure that the Bank's cloud strategy delivers scalability, resilience, and security, while remaining compliant with regional regulatory requirements across ASEAN markets.
As a key focus, the position will define and steward the Bank's next-generation cloud architecture with Azure as the primary platform and AWS as a strategic secondary enabling modernization, platform consistency, and seamless integration. The Cloud EA will lead efforts to establish cloud landing zones, reference patterns, and migration blueprints, ensuring solutions are designed for resilience, cost efficiency, and future readiness.
We seek a senior architect with 15+ years of enterprise architecture experience and at least 7+ years of cloud transformation leadership, including proven delivery of large-scale FSI migrations. The ideal candidate will hold relevant certifications (Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional) and bring strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence CxO and executive leaders. This role requires both technical depth and executive presence to drive adoption, secure alignment, and accelerate the Bank's journey to cloud-first operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Cloud Strategy & Target-State Architecture
- Define the Group-wide cloud target state architecture, with Azure as primary and AWS as secondary.
- Establish cloud reference architectures covering IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, hybrid, multi-cloud integration, and industry-specific services.
- Develop cloud adoption roadmaps for major business lines, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and enterprise priorities.
- Align Group's cloud direction with industry standards (e.g., CSA CCM, ISO/IEC 27017, NIST CSF) and regulator guidance.
2.Solution Architecture & Reference Patterns
- Publish and govern solution architecture patterns for cloud-native design, security, data, resilience, and operations.
- Provide technical assurance for solution designs presented to the Architecture Review Board.
- Guide workload placement decisions (on-prem, Azure, AWS, hybrid) and ensure cost/performance optimisation.
- Standardise IaC, DevSecOps, observability, and FinOps practices across programs.
3.Enterprise Cloud Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with MAS TRM, BNM RMiT, OJK MRTI, PDPA, GDPR and regional cloud regulations.
- Drive adherence to cloud security baselines, resilience SLAs, and regulator-required recovery/RTO/RPO standards.
- Partner with Group Risk, Cybersecurity, and Compliance on risk assessments, vendor controls, and audit readiness.
- Define cloud KPIs/OKRs and governance dashboards for Group leadership.
3.Cloud Adoption & Transformation Leadership
- Lead enterprise-scale migration and modernization programs, including legacy workload cloud transition and SaaS adoption.
- Partner with CxO and executives (CIOs, CRO, CFO, CTO) to influence business cases, secure approvals, and steer direction.
- Support in-country architects and delivery teams with cloud adoption frameworks and best practices.
- Guide transformation partners (consultancies, SIs, hyperscalers) in delivering Group objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 15+ years total IT/architecture experience, with 8 to10+ years in enterprise cloud architecture and proven Azure/AWS leadership in FSI.
- Demonstrated experience leading a large-scale FSI cloud transformation (core workloads, regulated workloads, hybrid, multi-cloud).
- Strong CxO and executive engagement skills, with ability to influence decisions at Board/Exco level.
- Mandatory certifications - Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional.
- Additional cloud/security certifications (CISSP, CCSK, TOGAF) desirable.
- Proven track record in reference architectures, target state, and solution assurance at enterprise scale.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Deep expertise in Azure services (landing zones, AKS, Functions, Synapse, Purview, Fabric, Azure OpenAI).
- Strong knowledge of AWS equivalents (EKS, Lambda, Redshift, SageMaker, Control Tower).
- Excellent knowledge of hybrid integration (networking, identity, governance, monitoring).
- Strong financial management (FinOps) and optimisation of cloud spend.
