Job Description

As a Technical Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional support to our valued customers. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting log analysis and providing comprehensive technical assistance in alignment with our internal processes. Additionally, you will be required to attend onsite interventions as necessary to resolve customer issues effectively. Your expertise will contribute to enhancing customer satisfaction and ensuring the seamless operation of our services.

Area of Responsibilities:

The Senior IBM AS400 Hardware & Systems is responsible to:

Providing AS400 hardware support (some software support) and hardware maintenance for user.

Maintain, upgrades or replace AS400 hardware.

Assist in hardware installation and project coordination.

Analyze and develop new hardware requirements and prepare specifications for hardware acquisition.

Perform system health check on the hardware and operating system (OS) of the machine.

Troubleshooting and resolving any system errors.

Perform operating system (OS) upgrade and periodic operating system (OS) patching either due to fixes/bugs or any critical security patches been released.

At least some exposure in handling IBM BRMS (Backup, Recovery & Media Services).

As the host (AS400) is connected to a variety of storage e.g. Flash Systems, V7000, V9000 & DS8000, knowledge on how it's been setup/connected is a plus.

Troubleshoot, monitor and administer the AS400 software and hardware.

Work with multiple vendors to assist with implementation of projects.

To support day-to-day computer operations which include firmware and OS upgrades.

Perform administration and problem management in the iSeries environment.

Perform ad-hoc work requests promptly and accurately.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering or equivalent in relevant discipline.

Power7-10 technology refresh and OS upgrade experience will be an advantage.

At least 4 years administration experience in AS400(mandatory), Unix and Windows environment.

Minimum of 4 years of experience of AS400 system engineer role.

Familiar with backup and recovery tools, preferably BRMS, Tivoli, etc.

Analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills in English

Should have a can-do attitude and team collaboration mindset to work independently.
