Role Description

The Department of East Asian Studies specializes in Area studies concerning Japan, Korea and China. We welcome cross disciplinary social science background with expertise in said area.

This is a full-time on-site role for a Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The responsibilities include teaching and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, conducting innovative research, publishing in reputable academic journals, and contributing to the development of academic programs within the university. The role also involves participating in departmental, faculty, and university administrative duties as well as engaging with the local and global academic community.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required
• Strong expertise in Curriculum Development, Course Planning, and Teaching Methodologies in a relevant academic discipline
• Proven track record in Research, Scholarly Publications, and securing Research Funding
• Proficient in Academic Administration, Leadership, and Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
• Excellent Communication, Presentation, and Mentoring skills
• Experience with International Research Collaboration and Industry Partnerships is an advantage
