Job Description

Position Summary:

Provide legal and compliance support across APAC, particularly Malaysia.

Serve as an in-house generalist legal counsel with 6–8 years of post-qualified experience.

Advise on a broad range of legal matters including contracts, litigation, compliance, and risk management.

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements.

Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Identify, assess, and manage legal risks across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Legal & Corporate Secretarial Matters

Provide legal and compliance support to Business Units and Group entities.

Advise business stakeholders on legal implications and risk management.

Provide legal guidance on APAC legal frameworks and business activities.

Support acquisitions, reorganizations, integrations, development, and divestment projects.

Coordinate with external legal counsel and cross-functional teams (Tax, Finance, HR, Export Control, Insurance, Real Estate, etc.).

Monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Support and collaborate with Legal & Compliance team members.

Coordinate and review corporate secretarial documentation for Malaysia and APAC entities.

Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including:

• Aviation services agreements.

• Procurement contracts.

• Real estate agreements.

• Compliance-related third-party contracts.

Develop, adapt, and maintain standard contract templates.

Coordinate with Export Control, Insurance, Tax, Finance, and other stakeholders during contract execution.

Compliance Responsibilities:

Support APAC compliance initiatives and implementation of compliance tools and systems.

Coordinate compliance policies, legal processes, and regulatory initiatives across APAC.

Support implementation of anti-corruption policies and compliance communications.

Organize and conduct compliance training sessions.

Conduct due diligence, monitoring, and audits of business partners, agents, advisors, and third parties.

Deliver Ethics & Compliance training to business partners and third parties.

Perform other legal and compliance duties as assigned.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist the HO Legal & Compliance – Malaysia in monitoring corporate matters.

Prepare and conduct legal awareness and compliance training.

Coordinate with external legal counsel on litigation and arbitration matters.

Assist with compliance investigations, including:

• Investigation planning.

• Data collection.

• Witness interviews.

• Report drafting.

• Support intake and processing of whistle-blowing reports through the OpenLine system.

Qualifications & Professional Skills:

Education

LL.B. / Degree in Law.

Admission to a Commonwealth jurisdiction Bar.

Experience & Skills:

Business-level proficiency in English.

Bahasa Melayu and additional APAC or European languages are an advantage.

Experience working with Google Workspace.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Knowledge of Malaysian PDPA and GDPR.

Experience preparing and delivering legal and compliance training.
