The ideal candidate will be responsible for in-house legal matters including drafting agreements, addressing compliance issues, and participating in negotiation discussions. In order to succeed, this candidate should feel comfortable working with in-house and outside counsel on a variety of legal matters.
Responsibilities
- You will advise the business team in BYD Malaysia and BYD HQ on various legal issues involving international purchase and sale of goods, distribution of products, marketing, dealer relationships, public relationships, employment, dispute resolution etc.
- You will draft, review, modify, negotiate and provide your advice on a variety of legal and/or commercial documents, as well as providing legal support during the negotiation, signing and implementation stages.
- You will be responsible for the drafting, editing, and promotion of standard contract templates.
- You will assist both BYD HQ and BYD Asia Pacific legal team in the implementation of the compliance policy in Malaysia and provide your professional advice on compliance issues including but not limited to employment, product liability, personal data protection, anti-trust, anti-bribery and export compliance.
- You will be responsible for providing legal support for general projects and assisting BYD HQ to deal with major legal affairs.
- You will be responsible for developing legal training materials and carrying out related training.
- You will implement BYD HQ legal management principles and establish a local legal management system with the assistance of the Asia Pacific legal team, which will be used to support the management of contract/dispute/litigation management, risk and compliance issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, based on the business need.
Qualifications
- You should hold a bachelor's degree of laws or above in a Malaysia or overseas university.
- You should be qualified to practice law in Malaysia. Former top-tier law firms or in-house experience in international enterprises would be a plus.
- You should have around 3 years of experience in the legal industry. Experience in the automotive industry is preferred. Outstanding graduates are also considered.
- You should be a native English speaker, proficiency in Chinese is required. Fluency in Malay would be a plus.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, detail-oriented, self-driven, highly efficient problem discovering and solving ability, excellent teamwork skills and strong legal writing and negotiation skills are required. Being willing and able to quickly get involved in a brand-new environment and industry (e.g. new energy) is preferred.
- Proficient in operating MS office.
