Job Description

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Manage the Group's litigation and dispute portfolio in Malaysia.
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies, oversee legal proceedings, and manage external counsel and other professional advisers.
  • Review and settle pleadings, affidavits, witness statements, expert reports, submissions, settlement proposals and other litigation documents.
  • Advise management on litigation risks, legal exposure, settlement strategies and dispute resolution options.
  • Coordinate evidence collection, witness preparation and litigation support, and provide regular case updates and risk assessments.

Employment & Industrial Relations

  • Advise on employment law matters, disciplinary issues, domestic inquiries, employee grievances and termination-related matters.
  • Manage matters involving the Labour Department, Industrial Relations Department, Industrial Court and external counsel.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and business units to ensure compliance with employment laws, internal policies and disciplinary procedures.
  • Provide practical and commercially focused advice on sensitive employment and industrial relations matters.

Corporate, Commercial & Regulatory Advisory

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documentation.
  • Provide legal advice and day-to-day support on commercial, corporate, operational, contractual, regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Review and update policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and governance documents to ensure legal compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Advise on regulatory investigations, enforcement actions and compliance matters, and monitor legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Support corporate exercises, restructuring projects and other strategic initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
  • Minimum 15 years post-qualification experience, with a strong litigation background and substantial experience in civil and commercial litigation, employment law and corporate advisory.
  • Must be able to independently manage complex civil and commercial litigation matters, employment disputes and regulatory matters with minimal supervision.
  • Experience conducting domestic inquiries, internal investigations and handling industrial relations matters.
  • Prior in-house legal experience or a combination of private practice and in-house experience will be an advantage.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially minded with sound judgment and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willing to travel, including on short notice, when required.
