As a Senior Lighting, Compositing, Rendering Artist, you will be responsible for all lighting, rendering and compositing requirements in the productions.
Responsibilities
- Work with Alembic and FBX workflows to get assets and animation into Maya and Unreal, and generally follow the workflow/pipeline set up by the team.
- Set up lighting, shaders, and materials for asset look development, and adjust lighting according to the needs of specific shots and sequences to meet creative and artistic requirements.
- Set up render layers and passes for efficient rendering and compositing, send shots to render using the in-house render farm, and ensure render outputs are generated correctly and efficiently.
- Set up and adjust compositing files, and render various types of FX and simulations to be incorporated into the final render outputs.
- Understand the aesthetic requirements of each shot, identify technical or visual issues, and work with the team and Team Lead to resolve them.
- Provide guidance and support to junior artists where required.
- Help improve and maintain lighting, rendering, and compositing workflows within the production pipeline
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in lighting, compositing, rendering, or a related 3D production role.
- Strong understanding of 3D lighting theory and techniques, 3D lighting and rendering tools, and the impact of light, shadow, and intensity on colours, with the ability to set up creative lighting that matches real-world lighting and concept art.
- Good understanding of different types of animation cache files, render passes, and common output file types used in the production pipeline.
- Basic knowledge of shader/material setup and node-based compositing tools, including the functions of various compositing nodes.
- Experience in Unreal Engine 5 is a plus. Familiarity with Movie Render Queue, Sequencer, FBX workflow from Maya to Unreal Engine, shading in Unreal Engine, Lumen, and Blueprints is an advantage. Portfolio link is required.
- Able to work independently, take ownership of assigned shots, and meet production deadlines.
- Able to work within an established production pipeline and collaborate effectively with the team.
