The Financial Controller oversees the Group's financial management, reporting, consolidation, forecasting, and compliance functions across multiple entities. Working closely with the CEO and business leaders, the role provides strategic financial leadership, business partnering, and commercial insights to support the Group's growth and performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Review consolidated financial statements and ensure compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, company secretaries, and regulatory authorities.
- Review subsidiary financial submissions and ensure consistency of accounting policies across the Group.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
- Develop and maintain financial models using advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Perform variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations to management.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure requirements.
Treasury, Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Oversee Group cash flow planning and liquidity management.
- Monitor funding requirements and working capital across subsidiaries.
- Manage banking relationships and financing facilities.
Business Partnering
- Provide commercial and strategic financial insights to support decision-making.
- Evaluate profitability by business segment, product line, and operating unit.
- Support business expansion, investment evaluation, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Work closely with operational teams to improve financial performance and efficiency.
Taxation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax regulations, including corporate tax, SST, withholding tax, and transfer pricing requirements.
- Review tax planning opportunities and manage tax risks.
- Keep abreast of changes in MFRS, taxation, and regulatory requirements.
Internal Control & Governance
- Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor risk management and corporate governance practices.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent.
- Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (preferred).
- Minimum 8–12 years of relevant finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager role.
- Experience handling group accounts and consolidation.
- Prior exposure to manufacturing, poultry, FMCG, food processing, or F&B industries is highly preferred.
- Experience working with external auditors, tax agents, and professional service firms.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Ability to translate financial data into business insights.
- Strategic thinking with hands-on execution capability.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong Ms Excel skill
