Job Description

Job Brief

To lead and manage the Group's financial planning and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with insurance industry standards, Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) regulations. The role supports strategic decision-making through accurate reporting, financial analysis, and continuous process improvement. There are two vacancies available for this role, which may be based in either Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and review periodic consolidated financial performance reports for management, board of directors, and regulators.
  • Ensure timely preparation of audited consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules for statutory audits.
  • Ensure compliance with MFRS, including MFRS 17, and BNM regulatory requirements.
  • Perform analytical reviews and provide clear explanations of financial results, accounts, and disclosures.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the preparation and submission of consolidated budgets and forecasts to management and the board.
  • Collaborate with business units to gather inputs and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Audit & Governance

  • Assist in the preparation of Audit Committee and Board papers.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, and company secretaries on audit and financial matters.
  • Coordinate audit timelines and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Review and approve journal vouchers prior to posting in SAP.
  • Manage month-end financial closing and consolidation processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in reporting systems, procedures, and SAP/GL setup.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems and MFRS 17 compliance tools is an added advantage.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including subsidiaries, auditors, and management to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Support corporate initiatives and ad-hoc assignments as required.

Job Requirements

  • Professional Certificate / Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accountancy, Banking, or equivalent.
  • A professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW) is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, planning, and analysis, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Preferably with experience in a managerial role in Accounting / Auditing or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of MFRS, especially MFRS 17, and BNM compliance matters.
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Excel; experience with financial consolidation tools is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Malay, both spoken and written.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
