Job Purpose
The Senior Manager, HR Business Partner is responsible for driving strategic and operational HR initiatives aligned with the company's business objectives. The role acts as a trusted advisor to management and business leaders, providing hands-on HR support across talent management, employee relations, organizational development, workforce planning, performance management, and stakeholder management.
This position requires a proactive and hands-on HR leader who is able to work closely with various stakeholders, manage complex people matters, and support business transformation initiatives in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
- Partner closely with business leaders and management teams to align HR strategies with business goals and operational requirements.
- Provide strategic and hands-on HR advisory support on workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness.
- Drive HR initiatives that support business growth, operational excellence, and employee engagement.
- Act as a trusted HR advisor to stakeholders across multiple business functions.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including management, employees, regulatory bodies, and business partners.
- Collaborate with department heads to address workforce challenges and provide practical HR solutions.
- Manage stakeholder expectations effectively while balancing business and employee needs.
- Support leadership in change management and organizational transformation initiatives.
Talent Management & Organizational Development
- Lead talent acquisition strategies for critical and strategic positions.
- Oversee succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
- Identify training and development needs to enhance workforce capability and performance.
- Support organizational design, restructuring, and manpower optimization initiatives.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Manage complex employee relations matters, disciplinary issues, grievances, and investigations professionally and confidentially.
- Provide guidance on performance management processes, employee coaching, and capability improvement plans.
- Ensure fair and consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
- Promote a positive employee experience and healthy workplace culture.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Ensure HR practices comply with company policies, employment laws, and regulatory requirements.
- Review and enhance HR policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Monitor HR metrics and analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
- Support payroll, compensation & benefits, and HR operational matters when required.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team to ensure high performance and continuous improvement.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented, and hands-on working culture within the HR function.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and HR digitalization efforts where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years of HR experience with strong exposure as an HR Business Partner role, preferably in the oil & gas, energy, engineering, or related industries.
- Strong hands-on experience in managing end-to-end HR operations and employee lifecycle processes.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management and partnering with senior leadership teams.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian Employment Act and other relevant labour regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience in organizational development, change management, and talent management initiatives is an added advantage.
