Job Description

Summary

This is a senior engineering role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing the complete manufacturing test strategy for new electromechanical products. The successful candidate will own the entire test process, from defining test requirements and coverage during the design phase (NPI) to creating and qualifying test hardware, software, and procedures for the production line.

Key responsibilities include hands-on development of test systems using tools like Visual Basic, applying Design for Test (DFT) principles, troubleshooting complex yield and quality issues, and driving continuous improvement by introducing new test technologies. This position requires an independent, problem-solving individual who can train technicians and serve as the bridge between R&D and manufacturing to ensure products are built efficiently and defect-free.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  • Design, develop, and own the complete manufacturing test strategy. This includes creating robust and scalable test systems, qualifying custom fixtures, and developing automated test software (e.g., Visual Basic) from the ground up.
  • Serve as a key technical partner in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process. You will collaborate directly with R&D to define critical test coverage, validate specifications, and embed Design for Test (DFT) and Manufacturability (DFM) principles from the earliest stages of design.
  • Act as the lead investigator for complex production challenges. You will champion product quality by leading deep-dive investigations into yield issues, employing systematic root cause analysis to implement effective and permanent corrective actions.
  • Continuously scout, evaluate, and implement cutting-edge manufacturing test technologies and methodologies. Your work will directly enhance production efficiency, improve test accuracy, and drive down costs.
  • Elevate the skills of our technical team by developing comprehensive training programs, preventative maintenance plans, and best-in-class troubleshooting guides for our Test Technicians.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • A Bachelor&aposs Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline, coupled with 6-8 years of impactful experience in a manufacturing test environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining, developing, and implementing test strategies for new hardware products
  • Deep mastery of DFT and DFM principles and their practical application.
  • Strong proficiency in troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems, including a solid grasp of sensors, DC circuits, and engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation and scripting (e.g., Visual Basic, LabVIEW, Python).
  • A natural and relentless problem-solver with world-class root cause analysis skills. You see challenges as opportunities.
  • A self-starting leader capable of managing projects with autonomy while building powerful cross-functional relationships with R&D, Quality, and Production teams. You communicate complex ideas with clarity and conviction.
