Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Construction) is responsible for leading the mechanical design process and managing the project team's overall operations within a construction company. You will lead the design and manage all mechanical aspects of construction projects from concept through to completion — while mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
- Lead mid-scale construction projects independently; assist lead engineer on larger projects
- Undertake strategic construction project planning: feasibility, impact assessment, budgeting, modelling
- Provide detailed mechanical, electrical, and ICT design work for building and infrastructure construction projects
- Lead and mentor junior engineers in a construction environment; guide their technical development and supervise work quality
- Supervise project costing, tender documentation, tendering process, contract award, and contract administration for construction works
- Perform engineering design, calculation, testing, and validation to support construction design tasks
- Review BIM models using Navisworks for accurate, coordinated, and constructible construction design output
- Supervise and review construction drawings produced by draughtsmen
- Prepare construction project, tender, and technical drawings for new construction projects or tender submissions
- Prepare technical presentations and lead presentation meetings with construction stakeholders
- Prepare and review subcontractor submittals to ensure design compliance for construction
- Ensure construction designs comply with safety, health, and environmental guidelines
- Ensure BIM input/output is accurate for construction information and quantity verification
- Ensure construction site teams implement designs per endorsed construction drawings
- Ensure building design complies with local authority requirements and CCC timeline for construction handover
- Provide technical support to construction project and client relationship management
- Maintain ISO documents per audit requirements for construction quality management
- Keep accurate records of all assigned construction project documents
- Review and develop technical construction skills of team members
- Provide professional guidance and ongoing support to engineers under your care
Requirements
- Minimum 7-8 years of working experience as a full-time Engineer, with minimum 4 years of construction site or consultancy experience related to M&E design and layout.
- Proven experience in big scale commercial and public building projects.
- Experience in managing junior engineers.
- Experience in large scale development projects.
- Experience in preparing project costing and budget.
- Good project management skills.
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCad and Revit.
- Willing to work in Bukit Bintang, KL.
