POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Merchandising Manager will be responsible for driving the overall merchandising vision and strategic direction for the brand. This role oversees merchandise planning, buying, inventory optimization, and commercial performance to support business growth and profitability. The incumbent will lead and mentor a team of merchandising professionals, while managing key functions including Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning, assortment strategy, pricing, sales and stock performance analysis, inventory management, and purchase cycle coordination. The role also ensures accurate reporting and effective execution of merchandising initiatives aligned with the brand's objectives. Working closely with the Planning, Operations, Inventory & Logistics, and Marketing teams, the candidate will play a key role in achieving sales, margin, and inventory targets, while supporting impactful product-led marketing initiatives and delivering a strong customer proposition across the business.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute seasonal merchandising, buying and inventory strategies by category and store.
- Drive pre-season and in-season sales, margin and stock optimization initiatives.
- Lead demand forecasting, assortment planning and allocation strategies to ensure the right product mix across all doors.
- Monitor business performance through sales, stock and market analysis, and recommend actionable trading strategies.
- Partner closely with Logistics, Retail Operations and Brand Principals to ensure smooth execution and timely product flow.
- Lead markdown, promotional and outlet liquidation strategies to optimize inventory productivity.
- Manage and coach merchandising/planning team members to deliver strong commercial and operational outcomes.
- Review financial plans, inventory health and product performance to support overall profitability targets.
- Support system enhancement and process improvement initiatives within merchandising and planning functions.
- Maintain strong relationships with brand principals and key internal stakeholders.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 10 years of management experience in footwear, handbags, beauty, fashion or retail F&B.
- Ability to analyse data and craft workable findings from consumer and market intelligence and insights.
- Good interpersonal skills.
