Senior Motion Control Engineer
Report to Teamlead FW
Objectives
Design, implementation and testing of drive chain concepts
Task
Support development project teams during concept evaluation and design phase
Lead drive concept evaluation: Motor type, transmission, initialization procedure, .
Motor dimensioning, work point calculation / simulation
Review of existing and new robotic and automation concepts
Close collaboration with the mechanical and electrical project specialists
Improve and extend performance, reliability, robustness of existing and new solutions
Identify, assess risks and evaluate mitigations
Develop internal motion control tools
Develop and improve internal process and best practices
Lead root cause investigations
Ensure cross-project consistency of solutions
Close collaboration with software/system architects
Supervision of apprentice / trainees / students
Initiate and run collaboration with academia
Active participation in agile and software craftsmanship communities
Actively contributes to the system-wide platform strategy
Challenges and refines robotic and motion control initiatives
Skills & Technical Knowledge and ability
Scientific Programming experience

1. Basic Education - Technical degree, preferably computer science, robotics, control technology, electrical or software engineering
2. Further Education - Software development including testing and documentation
3. Experience - 6 - 14+ years experience in instrument development, preferably in the medical device industry
4. Language Skills - English (fluent)
5. Special Knowledge / Skills - Matlab, Scripting languages like Python, Lua
6. Communication - Good oral and written Communication (English) Good moderation skills Capable of presenting a technical solution to an Engineering team
