As a Senior Network Engineer, you are a key technical contributor responsible for ensuring network stability, security, and scalability. Your expertise directly influences uptime, incident resolution, architecture improvements, automation maturity, and compliance readiness across Finexus platforms.
About the Role
The Senior Network Engineer manages and improves enterprise network infrastructure across development, UAT, production, and cloud environments. This role combines advanced hands-on operations with design responsibility, automation initiatives, and technical leadership.
You will work closely with Network Engineer Lead, junior engineers, and cross-functional teams including Cloud, Security, Application, Infrastructure, and Compliance to deliver resilient, secure, and future-ready network services.

Key Responsibilities
Network Architecture & Improvement
- Design, enhance, and optimize existing network architecture to ensure high availability, resilience, and scalability.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to network design, topology, and security controls.
- Conduct R&D on new network devices, tools, and approaches to improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Lead and contribute to automation initiatives using scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
Network Operations & Implementation
- Manage and maintain corporate, development, UAT, production, and cloud networks including ISPs, firewalls, switches, routing, and VPN connectivity.
- Configure and manage:
-Firewalls (port access, routing, NAT)
-Switches (VLANs, LAG, ACLs)
-Routers and other network devices
- Perform vulnerability management including firmware, definition, and security updates for firewalls, switches, and network devices.
- Create, manage, and revoke VPN user accounts.
- Configure and support IPSec VPN and SpeedFusion VPN tunnels.
- Maintain accurate network asset inventory.
Cabling & Physical Infrastructure
- Perform and oversee cabling activities including cable laying, crimping, testing, and tracing.
- Support network installation, replacement, and upgrade activities during working hours or scheduled maintenance windows.
Troubleshooting & Monitoring
- Lead troubleshooting for complex network issues such as packet loss, routing failures, timeouts, and connectivity disruptions.
- Utilise advanced diagnostic tools including ping, telnet, traceroute, nslookup/dig, tcpdump, and Wireshark.
- Design, configure, and improve network monitoring and alerting using SNMP and monitoring platforms.
Operations Readiness & Support
- Provide 24x7 network support on a rotational basis, acting as an escalation point for major incidents.
- Support midnight or weekend activities for:
-Network maintenance and upgrades
-High-severity incident resolution
-Deployment and production go-live activities
Business Continuity & Deployment
- Assist and provide technical leadership in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) activities.
- Ensure network readiness, redundancy, and rapid recovery during BCP/DR tests and real incidents.
Cloud, Security & Compliance
- Manage and support network-related cloud and security services including DNS, reverse proxy, and Anti-DDoS solutions.
- Support corporate certifications, audits, and due diligence activities including:
-PCI-DSS, PCI-3DS, PCI-PIN
-ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 9001
-SOC 2, BNM RMiT
- Prepare, review, and validate audit evidence and compliance documentation.
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Coordinate closely with application teams on network connectivity, performance, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a technical escalation and mentor for Network Engineers, providing guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Promote operational discipline through documentation, SOPs, and change management practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Actively pursue self-development through training, certifications, and technical learning.
- Sit for professional certifications (e.g. CCNP).
Key Requirements
Academic Qualification
- Diploma or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Networking, or related disciplines.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in computer networking within enterprise or production environments.
- Proven experience managing switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, routing protocols, and network monitoring.
- Demonstrated ability to design, improve, and support highly available network environments.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance, and regulated environments is an advantage.
Technical Skills
-Network troubleshooting and monitoring
-IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, NAT
-IPSec VPN, SNMP
- Hands-on experience with:
-Enterprise switches, routers, and firewalls
-Tools: ping, telnet, traceroute, nslookup/dig, tcpdump, Wireshark
- Scripting skills and automation mindset.
- Experience with network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and design principles.
Certifications
- CCNA or equivalent certification required.
- Higher-level certifications (e.g. CCNP) are strongly preferred.
